More than ten days later the suspect remains unidentified and uncharged. On September 22, 2026, a man wearing a jacket with the Chinese flag attacked Falun Gong practitioners on a public sidewalk outside Toronto’s Chinese Consulate. He destroyed banners, injured Lina Li, issued death threats, and claimed the sidewalk was Chinese territory before fleeing.
Canada must treat this as a potential act of transnational repression.
We urge the federal government, Toronto Police, and security agencies to identify and prosecute the attacker without delay, examine any foreign links, and guarantee that every resident can exercise free expression safely. Chinese Canadians hold the same rights as all other Canadians.
Continued inaction only emboldens foreign interference on Canadian soil.
