@StormyAdlerPoG One, this is a placeholder. A lot of companies do that (e.g. Warner Bros. Discovery and stuff that dreams are made of.) Two, the new company still has no name. They refer to the new company as "New Paramount." Which likely is going to be named simply Paramount, Inc.
Ok, here’s my issue with Disney as of late. Disney was a leader in the theme park space. Literally nobody did it better. The food was better. The CMs were better. The themes were better. The inclusions and perks were better. It was more expensive than other places, cont 🧵
The latest drama enveloping Paramount Global will come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to the once-storied Hollywood relic as it has lurched from crisis to catastrophe over the past 20 years.

@Katalitat Who wants that piece of garbage? Apollo and Sony dropped their bid a long time ago. The only hope for Para is if the liquidators come soon before the rest of the assets deteriorate.
@GuyIncogniDoh One thing people need to understand, which Paramount's board of directors clearly understood, is that it's just a matter of time before the company burns down. They need that M&A so damn badly, but Shari Redstone stands in the way.
@GuyIncogniDoh Read the news. Shari is against Sony's plan to break Paramount; this deal will never happen.
Everyone on Wall Street expects now the company to continue sinking. There's no hope. Eventually, liquidators will force Shari to sell and Paramount will become a thing of the past.
@ScratchyDerose The only ones who are actually winning the "streaming wars" are FAST services. Disney really went into huge debt to acquire Fox's assets (along with Hulu's stake,) only for Fox to spend about $400 million and acquire Tubi.
@genzo931@NextGenPlayer Faber reports that Sony/Apollo never really took off.
Why in the world would you think that Shari would sell the company to Sony if she's openly opposed the idea?
@CGasparino@Skydance@RedBirdCap@paramountco She's going to regret her decision severely. She could've ended the talks in any other way, but this?! This is only going to scare off other potential bidders who don't want to lick Shari's dirty boots to appease her and her mood swings.
@CGasparino@Skydance@RedBirdCap@paramountco This is the messiest M&A in the history of all M&A. I mean, how other potential bidders are going to interpret this? What's the point of them going through a series of negotiations, working hard; only for Shari to say that she isn't interested anymore?
@patrickbrown333@MattBelloni They approved the proposed deal. Now they are voting on approving detailed paperwork.
Technically, if approved, this should shut talks with any other potential bidders. But we will see.
@greenwizard56 @ahhveeee @CriticsChoice What Ellison wants to do is unclear, but the team did state that there is a potential for huge cost-cutting, which they will definitely explore. Some of the assets that Ellison may consider selling are Showtime and BET Network. It's also expected for Paramount+ to be shut down.
@greenwizard56 @ahhveeee @CriticsChoice They set up a timeline. By June 25th, Skydance should already be in possession of NAI. That would allow them to open the process of merging Skydance and Paramount into a new entity with David Ellison at its helm and Shari Redstone serving as Chair Emeritus.
@Margrnwjr@Zuby_Tech Doesn’t matter. Japanese company owning American TV broadcast company is just simply not happening.
And Paramount won’t agree to sell independent assets.
