We are a small school with a big heart!
Dr. D. W. Penner School is excited to be taking part in the Terry Fox School Run & Roll on October 11, 2024.

June is Pride Month!
Historically, Pride gatherings emerged from the first large-scale protests for 2SLGBTQI+ rights. In Canada, the first demonstrations took place in Ottawa & Vancouver in 1971. By 1973, Pride events were held in several Canadian cities, including Winnipeg.
So excited…Scott Hebert is delivering one of the greatest keynotes, speaking teachers’ truths and the power of vulnerability, engagement and game-based learning.
Students desire autonomy, mastery and purpose.

So disappointed in the NHL in banning Pride warm-up jerseys.
What is the message to our young LGBTQ2+ fans? Pride jerseys is a way to say we support you, you belong here…but instead we are letting deep seated homophobia continue to have a voice…

Hate has no place in our society, especially in our public school system. One can interrupt a meeting, but one cannot interrupt what’s right in education.
One small step into augmented reality…one giant leap of ideas!
Loving my 1st workshop at Learning Solutions on immersive tech and its possibilities for student engagement. Thanks Destery Hildenbrand!

Q5 I do like using the term 'gameful thinking' as we enthusiastically apply gaming sensibility as the technology engages kids. For example, we had kids doing robotics and coding...which has high engagement and opportunities to apply gaming aspects. #mbedchat
Q2 Something I do enjoy is how it can build community. My Esports teams has a wide range of students, who come together and function like a team, which for some of them is the first time they are experiencing what it is like to be part of a team. #mbedchat
@LizYingling3 Agreed! I was at a conference on VR, and was scaling ice forms in Antartica as a guided expedition and it was amazing to think the experiences we will be able to give students.
@MissFriese@mbedchat1@LanglieTeri I agree, it may not be a silver bullet for all occasions, but if it helps students regulate, build skills, develop reasoning and make connections with others, why would any educator not want to utilize games.
Q2 Also, I love how role playing games engages students imagination, and enthusiasm. This past summer we ran D&D camps, and the kids where dressing up and really got into the spirit of the game play. #mbedchat
@mrcodycreed Love Minecraft!! Have you ever checked out ---https://t.co/Z7Y2f27ylF
