My issues with #cryptocurrency as an actual currency: a thread
First, there is a difference between an “asset” and a “currency” Anyone out there who likes crypto as an asset and defends it as an asset, that’s cool; this thread isn’t for you
It’s about what makes a good currency
@BryanBroaddus Hey Bryan, I may be misremembering but wasn’t the concern from the team always his week 1 availability? I thought I remembered their concern was that due to his private rehab that he wouldn’t be available till week 6. Could be wrong, but this seems like moving the goalposts.
""The US is not in a recession, despite the Sahm Rule indicator bearing my name saying that it is. That said, the risk of a recession is elevated, strengthening the case for the US Federal Reserve to cut interest rates.""

@whstancil For people who believe Biden has 0 shot at winning against Trump, replacing Biden makes sense, even though it risks a meltdown. After all, if Trump wins regardless, who cares if it’s bc of a DNC meltdown or a dottering alternative.
You just seem to believe that Biden can win.
@whstancil This isn’t really a productive statement as both options carry risk, it’s just a value judgment of relative risk.
It’s disingenuous to suggest there are no risk associated with Biden staying in the race, and IMO similarly to suggest there is no upside to replacing him.
@MichaelDavSmith I’m genuinely caught on how to deal with it. I was an ATN listener for literally a decade & love Gregg. But the way NFLM dealt with the show makes me want to leave to not reward their asshatness. On the other hand I’d want to support Gregg.
@whstancil There are logistical problems anyway & it’d be inherently messy, especially if the DNC went with anyone other than Harris. I only mean to say the democracy argument doesn’t hold a lot of water.
@whstancil Given the primary the Dems did have (in which no one of significance got in and the result was a foregone conclusion), I’m not sure people’s chief complaint would be that the DNC draft method would be “undemocratic.”
@fawfulfan The fact we didn’t get nat’l legislation wasn’t bc of rioting & violence (or the lacktherof). It’s bc of political games & intentional strategic decisions. Dems wanted to run on it, just like Republicans who killed the compromised immigration bill a few months ago.
@fawfulfan Democrats rejected a deal and promised when they controlled the WH, House, & Senate that they’d negotiate a better deal than what was offered. Sens. Booker & Scott never got a deal done bc Biden burnt all his political capital on a DOA Voting Rights Bill.
@19eightytwomatt Umm I’m sorry the biggest sports franchise on the planet equates to “virtually zero cultural relevance” in your mind?? Sure they haven’t won a chip in a quarter century, but don’t tell me the Dallas Cowboys are culturally irrelevant.
