Being in the military is a dangerous job. Wearing the uniform is an honor and a privilege but it comes with risk, both stateside and abroad.

No one signs up to get hurt. I know there are a lot of bots and trolls on 𝕏. Some of the comments about Soldiers getting shot make my soul hurt.

The best part of the military is the peer pressure that makes you better. If someone had asked me if I wanted to run 10 miles for fun before joining I would have said no. now it’s something I look forward to.

Last year I was getting over food poisoning, and wasn’t going to run. A CSM I know came and picked me up and took me to pick up my bib the day prior to the race so that I’d still have the choice in the morning. The next day, I felt terrible, but I wanted to run…and I did.

The media and influencers hopelessly condemning the entirety of one of the best, most relevant speeches I have witnessed in my lifetime because they disagree with the current administration shows how deep their disdain for a stronger, more capable America truly is.

Nothing he said in that speech can be construed in a negative way unless you are against merit, competence, preparedness, and strength.

Period.

Our military’s primary purpose is to kill people and break things.

This doesn’t mean we enjoy butchery, it means that we will ruthlessly protect the ideals and values that America was founded upon because there are many people in this world who want to destroy us and our way of life.

That is the reality of our existence today. If we are not prepared, capable, and lethal, we will ultimately be defeated and subordinated.

Freedom is literally up to our military to ensure and uphold, and thus it is incumbent upon all military leaders to ensure that our military meets the highest of standards in war fighting at all times.

So, before you come at me with your feelings and your emotional responses, remember that the enemy wants you, your family, and your countrymen dead simply because you exist outside of their ideology and control.

They do not care about your politics. They do not care about your skin color. They do not care about your gender.

They care about destroying you and me.

I continue this week with deep sense of my helplessness overall. I turned to reading Marcus Aurelius:
