It takes *years* to put together a team of seasoned devs who work well together, know their tools/engine intimately and are passionate about the genre they're working in. It's not an overnight process.
But destroying a team like that is.
id Software was one of the few AAA studios that was doing what people have been asking AAA to do: deliver highly technically performant/quality launches consistently for single player experiences and without predatory microtransactions.
Washing dishes isn't difficult on its own, but doing so in a record time would be a far greater endeavor, but the time it would take to be capable of acquiring that record time wouldn't make washing dishes a deep task, even if you had to learn strategies to save time.
People who shoot hard for XVI are so weird to me because there is a lot to love about that game, but the 'depth' of its combat system is not one of them.
MEN IN BLACK is a 10/10 movie with a premise built in a lab to be a 7/10 weekly procedural show, which is why the animated series works so well. The shocking part is how fucking terrible all the sequel movies are.
