@ritasnep In bugs it's called incomplete metamorphosis (grasshoppers, mantids, phasmids, etc), opposed to complete metamorphosis where they hatch as a larval form and undergo pupation before coming out as a usually pretty radically changed adult (flies, beetles, butterflies, etc)
@samoyote Even if you can't afford a full psychiatrist or are uninsured, get the cheapest marketplace plan (if you're US), and get a good primary care doc asap. As long as you can get your diagnosis documents to them, they're actually super helpful about prescribing ADHD meds affordably.
