@mkeith1229 @birdchadlouis The sin of unbelief discussed in Hebrews, along with the dire warnings, is primarily referring to combining works of the Law with the Grace of Christ. Hebrews 3:18–19 links unbelief directly to disobedience and a failure to enter His rest.
Reflecting on his years as an atheist, C. S. Lewis wrote that, for him, the “horror of the Christian universe was that it had no door marked Exit” (Surprised by Joy). In his materialistic view of the universe, “death ended all."
In the Christian universe, the moment of a person’s conception is the genesis of a life that will never end. It will go on in this world for a few years or decades, but our earthly existence is but (as Lewis will say later), the title page of a book, the story of which will never cease. Death is but the doorway into the next, unending life.
All of us are barely at the beginning of an everlasting existence.
The ramifications of this is that I wish to live now in light of who I have become in Christ. For united to his life, my life will continue forever. When I die, I will be in paradise with Christ. When he returns, I will be given my body back, glorified.
I treat this life neither as a waste nor a plaything but as the launch pad of a beautifully explosive existence in which I will become all that God wants me to be in his Son.
This knowledge alters how we see family, friends, strangers, and enemies. We observe the face, not of a passing mortal, but an everlasting creature: “It is with immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit—immortal horrors or everlasting splendours," as Lewis writes in The Weight of Glory.
Let us treat them accordingly, not as flies to be whisked away or bugs to be trampled upon, but as image-bearers of God. Like us, they have an everlasting destiny, either in the light of God or the night of hell.
As children of light, let's do all we can to help those now stumbling in darkness to be drawn into the light through the Gospel.
Ours is often a painful but noble existence for we alone, of all creatures, are children of God. The more we think of ourselves and others that way, the richer lives we shall live.
@RonManess2@alisa_childers I feel bad for Gavin. He tries to promote an intellectual and orthodox Christianity, but gets tarred because he's not dogmatic about some tertiary doctrines.
Christians REFUSE to renounce their faith in Nigeria after their church was burned down
7,679 churches attacked, 4,734 Christians jailed and 4.476 MURDERED
& that’s just the ones recorded. We need to end persecution now

@DuaneDieterich@MikeWingerii@birdchadlouis@karndogs And therein lies one of the main problems with X. If we're limited to surface-level discussions, what is even the point of this medium (besides unhealthy dopamine hits)?
@DuaneDieterich@MikeWingerii@birdchadlouis ... focusing on continuity between Israel and the Church. Intermediate views (e.g., New Covenant Theology) blend elements, stressing continuity but allowing some dispensational distinctions, like a unique role for Israel.
@DuaneDieterich@MikeWingerii@birdchadlouis Dispensationalism sees history divided into distinct periods (dispensations) where God interacts differently with humanity, emphasizing a literal interpretation of prophecy and a future for national Israel. Covenant Theology views history through unifying covenants...
@TheBabylonBee Please don't refer to the God of the universe as "it".
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
@MikeWingerii Hi, Mike. I just listened to your interview with Elijah about Bethel and Bolz. I am extremely impressed with Elijah. He's humble and wise and really wanting the best for everyone and for Christ's church. Please let him know.
@DaMadMattster@elonmusk The "only man" statement reminds me of Babel. Different circumstances, but still a focus on man's ability to achieve greatness apart from God. That never ends well.
Proverbs 16:18
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
@trumpyla@firebat4689@joumana_gebara_@Taimur_Ali_Syed Romans 3:10-12 ESV — as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands;
no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
@firebat4689@joumana_gebara_@Taimur_Ali_Syed 2 Corinthians 5:10 ESV — For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
@firebat4689@joumana_gebara_@Taimur_Ali_Syed Galatians 3:28 ESV — There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
@firebat4689@joumana_gebara_@Taimur_Ali_Syed And, specifically referring to Gentiles:
Ephesians 2:13 ESV — But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
@firebat4689@joumana_gebara_@Taimur_Ali_Syed I think we're missing the point here. God arranged Christ's death such that both Jews and Gentiles were responsible. I think that was intentional, to highlight how we are all desperate sinners, in need of His mercy.
