If It Happened In Nigeria, Peter Obi Would Have Said, "We Are Finished". Am I Lying?

Earlier today, whole sections of New York City were closed to traffic because President Trump was in town, to the extent that the New York Police Department stopped President Emmanuel Macron of France from driving to the French embassy, and he had to walk. Yet, life goes on in America.

If that were to happen in Nigeria, the opposition would whip up sentiments, and many emotional Nigerians would join them and say, "We are finished", as Peter Obi wrote yesterday.

Two months ago, precisely on Sunday, July 6, 2025, Peter Obi even attacked President Tinubu for having an ambulance in his convoy. Please fact-check. As President Trump moved around in New York today, it was not just city sections that were closed. Trump moved with two ambulances.

Now, I ask you honestly to imagine what Peter Obi would have said if President Tinubu had moved about with two ambushes and blocked sections of Lagos while on an official visit.

Is this not the same Peter Obi who tried to set Nigeria on fire because the First Lady, out of the goodness of her heart, altruistically asked citizens who wanted to mark her 65th birthday to instead donate towards the building of a National Library?

The moral of the story here is that if we are not careful, people like Peter Obi will set Nigeria on fire because of things that are routine in other countries.
