Hey, y'all... Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on a proposed rule that would apply conservation standards to all properties it manages (like the properties in front of me threatened by mining). FOUR DAYS to comment. Please do!!! 🙏❤️🌍 https://t.co/jr2TmPOLcA
@ForamWhisperer This is one reason I like @how2saveaplanet podcast series. Every episode has a list of actions that can be taken, giving listeners/students tools they can use.
@MinuteEarth Thanks. I wouldn’t have selected “Glacier vs Volcano” to look for Earth’s interior layers, which is why a comprehensive search function for topics would be nice. “Earth’s Interior” would fit in nicely with your beginnings as “Minute Physics.”
@MinuteEarth Earth’s layers and the evidence supporting them: crust (MOHO), mantle, molten outer core, solid inner core. Would love this for my college intro geoscience courses. Your team would do a fantastic job with this! If you already have one, I’ll search your YouTube again.
The freedom to live without the fear of losing our lives, or our loved ones, in a mass shooting has to be greater than the freedom for some random madman with an AR-15 to end our lives on a whim.
I’m attending a professional conference & met up with a former #2YC transfer student. We walked & talked for an hour. It was wonderful to catch up on both personal & professional lives & to know I was a valued part of her journey.
I had coffee with a stellar former student yesterday who asked a great question:
"I know it’s important to keep in touch with mentors & former supervisors but how do you recommend doing that?"
Here was my answer:
@DrWendyRocks I came late (husband locked his keys in the car) but enjoyed what I saw. Students are already turning in their summary/reflection paragraphs. We’re in Illinois so the New Madrid EQ discussion was timely. They found the ghost forests/tsunami & using lidar to map faults fascinating
@DrWendyRocks I have students attending tonight for extra credit. There was some confusion about the time when they received their “ticket” but I assured them it was 6:30 ET/5:30 CT. I’m looking forward to reading what they learn. #WomenInSTEM#2YCstudents#geoscience#scicomm
@RobertCMahon We have one that runs through our city. I often wonder about the displacement & loss of property value for the remaining neighborhoods when the interstate was built.
