@VerumVulnero1 Joke I used to say around my patients: why do grandparents and grandkids get along so well? They have a common enemy. The grandparents guffaw and say oh so true!
@ClistonBrown I’d put W a bit lower (Iraq and 2008 recession) and Cleveland a tad higher (he inherited the Panic of 1893, his intransigence didn’t help). Nixon was a better policy president than most, but his personal failings is what people remember most.
@ScottKacsmar Lots of recency bias—only one is pre-1970s, Johnny U. (He has 2 NFL championships pre-merger). No appreciation for Otto Graham. Could make a case for Ken Anderson in the 1970s. Favre was too much gambler, rather see Bart Starr. Montana wasn’t a great passer, but he was a great QB
@American_Heart I remember as a medicine resident (late 1980s) that Braunwald’s “The Heart” was the considered the Bible of cardiology. It was a massive textbook, as big as Cecil’s Internal Medicine textbook.
@avidseries Pete has the chops to be an outstanding policy-oriented politician, but doesn’t have the JFK charisma I find so wanting. He was my 2020 primary choice. He’s also saw Bernie as an insurgent populist, dropped out (domino effect) and establishment Dems coalesced around Joe.
@ScottKacsmar I was wondering. Craig was a complete surprise, does he have the numbers and metrics for HOF? I know he has the rings. Happy that Luke didn’t have to wait another year. Mildly surprised about Vinateri mostly because K/Ps usually get short shrifted in voting.
@cherokeeowl Reminds me of my SIL van and a distant gf’s SUV—both I regarded as the world’s biggest toy box on wheels. The gf was an RN that worked two jobs and ferried her daughter everywhere. The paper money is sort of a bonus (that easily could have been change at the tollbooths in NJ).
@ScottKacsmar Interesting. Doctors in clinical practice usually have no problem getting out of jury duty. Also, defense attorneys tend not like well- educated types. In civil cases plaintiffs tend to think that doctors and lawyers are natural enemies.
@newstart_2024 Surprised about 15 yr instead of 30 yr. Also, that mortgage interest is tax deductible, if they didn’t have a mortgage before, this will be a big windfall come tax time.
@AntiLeftMemes To remove frost I used hot water from a tap which is a max of 140F but likely closer to 120F. Some of these people it’s clear they used boiling water which is >200F (boil is 212F). Better living through knowing physical properties + thermodynamics. Tried/true is use a defroster.
@sciencegirl Shows it doesn’t take much force or pressure to force the bulb cover down and exposing the spike. It should be at least 1000 lbs mass to force the cover down for its intended purpose.
@ScottKacsmar I see it as going for 2 as having their destiny in their hand. Plus they were up/down vs. Eagles D. Circumstance seemed to dictate that the Bills “fvck it & do it”. Took some stones to roll the dice but I think it favored them. Bad outcome, but I think it was the right decision.
@ScottKacsmar I haven’t seen any hot names among coordinators, but quite a few coordinators who are on the 3rd leg of the Bill Arnsparger career path (great C -> failed HC -> great C 2.0).
