Not really feeling like using x/twitter for sharing illustrations anymore. I've deleted most of the ones I've shared here. If you don't already follow me elsewhere I go by haavardpaavard on insta, masto and bluesky.
@ImBenvincible My whole relationship with that movie is super weird, because I feel so far removed from the core fanbase, and also I don’t even like superhero movies.
@ImBenvincible Though, I realize that I’m not smarter than everyone for seeing this stuff. Most people just don’t give enough of a shit about that movie.
@ImBenvincible Plus, it’s not (as most people seem to think) about how his perception about Superman changes. It’s his perception about himself. With the mention of that name, he is no longer Michael defeating Satan, he’s Joe Chill. His own worst nightmare.
@GrappleSeed So to be clear, we're not dead. We continue to work on the comic. But running the website started getting costly, which was extra sour given that we're currently on hiatus.
@hunderscorep2 @chrismcfeely@SourGuts69 The penguin has had a general bird theme quite often back in the old comics. Often stealing bird-themed objects, just like catwoman stole cat-themed objects. This show borrows quite a bit from the silver age of comics.
@chrismcfeely@SourGuts69 I think the theme is bird, which is why they look like flamingos (the hands are beaks). it’s just that in this show everyone also has to be a ninja.
@SketchIsNotReal@ImBenvincible@Schaffrillas With 300 I can at best assume that he was temporarily caught up in the post 9/11 mindset, combined with being a general fan of Frank Miller. But that is being very favourable while also assuming he wasn’t thinking hard about what he was actually making.
@SketchIsNotReal@ImBenvincible@Schaffrillas It’s true he didn’t make the comic, but he did faithfully adapt it. Like, I would stay far away from that stuff. Have not seen sucker punch.
@ImBenvincible@Schaffrillas That said, have problems reconciling the existence of 300. Everything about it screams «western traditionalist jerk-fest» to me.
@ImBenvincible@Schaffrillas It’s weird because Snyder himself seems like pretty cool dude. Both based on actions and on stuff he sais in interviews/commentaries.
@SketchIsNotReal@ImBenvincible The childlike empress basically put the fate of the world on their shoulders. Luckily, the real mission turned out only to be for Atreyu to stay alive long enough for Bastian to get invested. Not Artax though. Had he known he didn't need to be alive, he might not have died.
@SketchIsNotReal@ImBenvincible He's scared that he and Atreyu isn't going to be able to complete their mission and save the world from destruction. Understandable.
