This is gripping. An RAF Lancaster takes off in 1943 on a bombing raid to Germany.
In temperatures of -20 deg C they encounter searchights, flak, anti aircraft fire, Luftwaffe night fighters as they drop their bombs. They score a direct hit.
The wireless operator says, "hello skipper, oil is leaking out of the front turret, nothing to worry about."
At the end they the are attacked by a German night fighter. It is shot down & the excitable crew have to told to calm down by the skipper. "Don't shout all at once".
A tour of duty was 30 missions, their chances of remaining alive was 50/50. According to @grok only 24% would not be killed, injured or taken as a prisoner of war.
The Crew is:

Hey @networkrail how is it going unblocking the Swift nesting sites on the Chapel Milton Viaduct? You may wish to read this report by the @_BTO to give you an overview of why so many people are appalled. The bird on the cover is a Swift…
There’s something v wrong when someone with authority touts their opinion as fact.Lord Krebs, you say swift bricks don’t work & that swifts only nest higher than houses & only with open access.Err, have you been living under a rock? Our home is their home. @ZacGoldsmith
I think this symbolises a point football has reached, where it has to decide what it stands for.
From an entertainment value perspective, this might be fun: fewer dead rubbers, possibly 1st legs abolished with an eliminator system that means every game has an immediate, direct consequence.
From a sporting merit perspective, this would be a disaster: you shouldn’t be allowed to finish 8th over a 46-game season, and play in the Premier League next year.
I would argue the damage to sporting merit would outweigh the entertainment value.
Let the competition provide the entertainment, as opposed to making the entertainment dictate the competition.
OH MY GOD! 1 year ago Steve Reed said I was ‘pushing an open door’ re mandating swift bricks. He thanked me (first for a govt minister). He was in Defra but the Housing Dept blocked it. NOW he’s Housing Secretary of State @SteveReedMP please be our SWIFT STEVE?
