@BookSpotlight I'm in Texas, we had little to no warning that it would get this bad. With the weather reports we had, I'd have sent my daughter to summer camp too. Hoping beyond hope more are found safe, no one deserves this.

There’s a 30 day free trial, but it’s 30 days of use, so it actually lasts a while if you’re not writing every day. It’s also so cheap and their customer service is A-mazing. I’ve contacted them many times over the years bc I lost my product key and needed to download onto a new computer and they always find it for me no problem. They even did so to help me get a discount on their updated version. As for use, I LOVE the split screen function, and the full-screen function. The spellcheck leaves much to be desired and there’s very little grammar check. I usually pop it into word to catch typos that scriv didn’t. But with the Mac version and iCloud, I’ve never lost a single word due to computer crashes. Once my daughter spilled a full cup of water on my computer while I was typing and I literally found it in iCloud midway through the sentence I was working on 🤣. Great software made by great people who care about writers 😊😊

My revisions are done!! It’s been a struggle. I wrote this story processing my grief after losing my grandmother so trying to get it publish ready after losing my grandfather has been hard. But I’m doing a read through for notes, and damn, I love this book.

For those who are curious, my parents are Canadian, but my mom was born on an American navy base (American dad, English mom), then lived in Canada long enough to qualify for Canadian citizenship. She maintains dual. My dad is Canadian. They live in Canada now. I was born in the US and still live here.

I’m helping my BJJ professor write an article to help maintain their Visa and as the child of immigrants, it makes my heart so happy. I remember my dad going through this process. It’s fun to be the one that gets to help.

I’m way behind on launching my book because my grandfather’s death hit me pretty hard. He had the cancer I studied in my career and therefore wrote into my book because I knew it well. His diagnosis was blindsiding and at times I struggle with feeling like I manifested it.

Anyways, not on track to release this month. Hopefully next month but probably august. Thank goodness I chose the indie path.

There’s lots of libraries with cafes/bakeries! My local library has a great one with amazing cookies, salads, and great tea. My university’s main library also had one (and a museum). I don’t know how I feel about people drinking alcohol though, I’d see that getting noisy and I generally go there first a quiet place to write. Granted, it’s not quiet in the kids area where I generally write so my kiddo is distracted 🤣.

I’ve lost two friends to suicide and I’m totally fine with the topic so long as it’s not glorified in any sense. Which is hard to explain in the context of a reply. But otherwise I am drawn to the stories that explore what draws people to this darkness. I think more empathy around this subject is needed.

I love making auxiliary characters that are bad at explaining things, because not every person you meet is going to talk like a college professor, but trying to write their dialogue in a way that’s only just awkward enough not to be confusing is always a challenge 🤣.

My husband is just starting blacksmithing as a weekend hobby so he forged me some purse hooks which he and my daughter each painted. I’m a sucker for hand made gifts. Big smiles here this morning. And a little nod to sunflowers 🌻

@dmagillwrite I tried Atticus and really didn’t like it. I think it’s likable, but it couldn’t do something I wanted to do. Adobe Indesign is great, but high learning curve, I’m running out of time so I’m using vellum. It’s not a versatile as Atticus but I find the formatting more elegant.
