It was 85 degrees out, but this is what the temperature read INSIDE the car where the dog was.

We know you love your dogs. We do too, but it’s that time of year where in an instant, your dog can be in distress when left in a hot car.

Our Animal Protection officers have received several calls about dogs in hot cars this past week as the temperatures soared. They’ve asked us to remind our community not to do this.

The City of Boulder requires water to be provided at ALL TIMES while an animal is alone in a vehicle.

About a month ago Marius was walking to work in #Boulder as he’s done for the past 23 years.

But that day something horrible happened.

He was brutally attacked with a stick by a man he did not know. Thankfully bystanders intervened and officers’ quickly responded and arrested the suspect. That suspect was charged with first degree assault on an at-risk adult.

Marius, who gave us permission to share his story, suffered serious head injuries that he still struggles with today. However he was finally able to return to his coworkers and his job that he loves.

Sadly he longer feels safe walking to work.

That’s why today several members of the Boulder Police Department (many of whom know Marius well from working off duty at his place of employment) met him when he got off work to walk him home and help him feel safe again.

We were also joined by Mayor Brockett, Mayor Pro Tem Friend, Councilwoman Joseph, State Representative Amabile, OSMP rangers and other community members!
