Incredible data from @BloombergNEF and team here; an industry we're proud to participate in.
LEDs reduce waste heat by 80%+ even versus fluorescent, so commercial adoption of LEDs will also help moderate growth in cooling-related electricity demand.
Improvements in lighting technology mean that:
*⃣The world now uses less electricity for 💡 than for cooling
💡 The world now uses less 🔌 for 💡than for low-temperature heating
💡US households use less 🔌for 💡than for its fridges and dryers

Good day to be visiting one of the city’s great institutions, with whom we are very excited to partner on making buildings more efficient through lighting and controls.
Total project cost is ~$3/foot. With LL97 in play, these projects reduce OpEx by $0.85 per foot per year (even before maintenance is factored), which at a 5% cap rate creates $17/foot in value for the building. (3/3)
Starting at the end of 2023, New York City will have one of the highest carbon prices in the world. Buildings will pay $268 per ton emitted above a 2005 benchmark.
