The cost of the job will dictate a deposit.
Generally, anything over £3k you should be asking for some form of deposit on account. Serious clients won't be phased by this, but it can weed out timewasters, which we certainly don't need. #Tradesmen#Home#Maintenance
A tip for homeowners & businesses:If tradesmen or so-called clearance cmpys that haven't got this⬇️licence from the @EnvAgency you'll more than likely have rogues that will fly tip waste creating headaches for landowners & councils. Check before you book & on arrival on card back
@USGBProgressBar @ProUniversalUK A one in a lifetime project and a great one for local tradespeople to get involved in if they have the skillset. @universaluk@UniversalPics
@MyHomebuilding Most of the tradesmen I know live in a pre-1965 house, inc' myself, that says a lot. Having lived in 3 new builds prior to buying this 60s semi, I'd rather spend the money uplifting an older solid property every time. Generally, having more sq ft for your £ internal & externally

@FixRadioUK I've found it swings & roundabouts with resi & commercial in general construction & maintenance. Currently, 50-50, with many long-term clients. The commercial wk is good as long as they pay on time, which can be a headache in this sector. Though I forsee more commercial next year
@FixRadioUK It is the principle 💯% and you do this work in good faith.
My advice:
1. Do a written quote (with T&Cs)
2. Take a deposit if works are over a certain amount.
3. Small claims court is an option... businesses certainly won't want this against them.
3. Trust your gut instinct!
@FixRadioUK Yes, there's plenty of work out there, but often when I come in down the line, I'm shaking my head asking why they have done it like this? Poor workmanship, basically. As for quoting on jobs, there is a % of timewasters wanting something for nothing, but you pay for what you get!
