Maybe, but not necessarily, (1) it can make him more accountable to God compared to when he was an agnostic, and (2) he could become a bigger opponent to the gospel now.

The apostle Paul didn’t pronounce an anathema upon the agnostic/atheists of his day, but he did pronounce an anathema upon those preaching a different gospel in Galatians 1:8-9. It’s very serious.

Someone preaching a different gospel is MORE dangerous to the Christian church than an agnostic or atheist will ever be.

Now it’s possible God could use Catholicism as a stepping stone in Joe’s life to bring him to biblical Christianity and true faith in Christ. That’s my hope. I’m praying for him.
