Mistreated by @RobertPearlMD. Even though America supposedly has the best hospitals and physicians, the outcomes and the cost don’t measure up. Great book on discussing this broken system and how we should change healthcare’s financing, tech, leadership, etc. Would recommend!!!
Done with my last day of clinical rotations! Thankful to my attending, Dr. William Wuu-Shyong Wu, for an educational nephrology rotation. Gave me a tie to congratulate me for matching!
Finally went to the @lastbookstorela! I can definitely spend hours just reading books and appreciating the decor. Currently reading the book I’m holding, written by @wstorr Selfie: How We Became So Self-Obsessed and What It’s Doing To Us
Never thought much about #IntermittentFasting until this book. The way the book describes the relationship between Insulin resistance and our diet/eating habits was definitely eye opening
Another book done. Thanks for the great read @drjasonfung. Definitely practice-changing knowledge on the misconception of the Calorie Restriction method. The book references many studies but still keeps it light enough for the average audience
I know the @thecurbsiders recently finished an episode about obesity. Would definitely recommend this as a book to check out! Quite redundant throughout the book to hammer it home that calorie restriction only provides temporary weight loss
@Joshchanchan Check out @thecurbsiders podcast. I really liked listening to their practice-changing knowledge while I’m driving to the hospital. Feel free to message me about PS questions if you want!
@studentdrmix On IG, @theradiologistpage is actually pretty nice in going through cases. You can also go to https://t.co/8fSsC9wcs4 and that's where you can get more in-depth knowledge and images too.
This is definitely not for every Dr or every patient! But I think the idea behind the concept is commendable. Especially in primary care, every Dr wants to spend more time with each patient, avoid the ridiculous amount of documentation, and not be overworked by the hospital
Eye-opening book by Dr. Farrago. I’ve seen how insurance, admins, and prior authorizations have overworked Dr’s and dictated the health of patients. The Direct Primary Care (DPC) model really seems like it saves patients $$$ and gives back power to the physicians. @authenticmed
Finishing up 4th year and so I decided to read The House of God. Definitely a good read. While some themes in the book are still true today, I think medical training/culture have changed for the better. I’ll have to reflect on this after I go through intern year. @thecurbsiders
@kirk_med There’s definitely educational benefits and you’ll see things that you wouldn’t have seen during daytime. I support night shifts, but not those 24 hr shifts for med students. At some point, you’re just there because you have to. No wants to stay awake if you’re gonna do scut work
