@ULCTcitycafe I will miss Gary as well. He was a consistent influence for good among city managers and local elected officials in Utah. His public safety experience added a dimension many of us havenโt had directly. Julie and I send our condolences to Team ULCT and the Whatcott family.
Looking forward to seeing our Utah friends and colleagues this Thursday afternoon! It has been an honor to serve the residents of Provo for 20 years and many of my friends in the city management world for more than 40 years
We are so excited that Provo @mayorkaufusi is the new President of the Utah League of Cities and Towns! This is going to be an amazing year as we Speak Up! to our legislators on behalf of our citizens. #CitiesWork#utpol@M_Kaufusi
@provocity Scott is a gifted executive and leads an amazing organization. Provo is lucky to have Scott and Revere as part of the Provo healthcare ecosystem.
@nativepilgrim@OgdenCityUtah@ELGL50 @CityHallSelfie And a beautifully restored historic building it is. I spent about 5 years in that building and enjoyed helping with the project to restore it.
Wayne Parker is a class act. It was great working with him back in the day in the administration of our boss and friend, Provo Mayor Lewis K. Billings.
I am excited for what is to come next as I have some time to reflect, spend time with family, and find ways to continue to engage in new ways in a career that I have loved.
So, today I announced that I am retiring from my role as Provo City's Chief Administrative Officer effective September 16, 2023. It will mark 20 years since I arrived in Provo in 2003, and given circumstances in my life it seemed like the opportune time to make the transition
into the next phase of my life.
I have appreciated so much the support I have received from all of our city employees, the management team, and three mayors and 33 council members over the last two decades. This year also marks 40 years of serving in local government .
I had a wonderful visit today with @voice4pa, the director of the @BYUmpa program. So many good things happening there, including a collaboration with @ICMA on ethics in local gov. Glad the program is in such capable hands! #BYUMPA
Provo is honored to "three-peat" as the Milken Institute's Best Performing City. I work with an absolutely amazing team of elected officials, executives, managers and city employees. And, as always, the "secret sauce" of Provo's success is a community of exceptional people.
@provocity benefits from a strong tech sector, with HQs for companies like @Qualtrics + @VivintHome.
It's also home to @BYU, which employs and educates many Utahns, driving a highly qualified workforce.
@SpencerJCox made an exciting announcement at today's @ULCTcitycafe luncheon. The state will work with the goal to connect trails throughout Utah, linking communities in a way that will enhance quality of life for all of us. We look forward to being part of this visionary effort!
@ULCTcitycafe@MurrayCityUT I may be one of the few left who worked with Jack at the legislature, at Murray City, and at the League. He made a significant positive impact on cities across Utah. RIP my friend.
"If our history is actually told the way it happened so we can heal from it... " - Opal Lee #SGRSLC2022 Agreed! We have to quit watering down our history. Good, bad, or ugly, it is our history and everyone should be taught the true story so we avoid repeating it!
