Elimination of the middle class is exactly the communist game plan. Go back to the Russian revolution and note how the Bolsheviks took over. Or read about Cuba.
I honestly would like to know what Canadians think the endgame here is.
A hostile relationship with the US? So, going from the longest undefended border in the world to antagonistic neighbors?
Bringing the US to its knees because of potash? Stop kidding yourselves.
Getting in bed with the Chinese so that you can protect your nanny state government and not work very hard? All trade with the US will likely stop. All US investment in anything more complicated than tinker toys will stop.
Getting in bed with the EU? Their economies are falling fast. Get ready for mass immigration of military-age single men from North Africa. And ladies, arm yourselves. Oops, can't do that.
Canada, We are living the nightmarish sequel..
A Few quoted comments on @MarkJCarney ‘s past tenure that is very apparent & applies today!
“The Bank is behaving a bit like an unreliable boyfriend. One day hot, one day cold, and the people on the other side of the message are left not really knowing where they stand.”
— Pat McFadden, Labour MP, Treasury Committee, June 2014
• Jacob Rees-Mogg: “He was a dreadful governor and left us with a major inflationary problem.”
• Iain Duncan Smith camp: branded him the “architect and promoter of Project Fear.”
• Michael Gove: compared him to a Ming emperor whose critics were “flayed alive.”
• A source close to then-Chancellor Philip Hammond: “He was a rogue soldier in the Brexit battle… He intervened at his leisure.”
On the job itself
• Andrew Tyrie, Treasury Committee chair: the Bank’s oversight was “opaque, complex and byzantine.”
• Andrew Sentance, former MPC member: Carney “damaged the credibility of the Bank of England” and the term-extension process was “shambolic.”
• Matthew Lynn, Telegraph: “On any measure you care to look at, Carney was the worst Governor of recent times.”
On Brexit
• Andrea Leadsom: his pre-vote comments were an “incredibly dangerous intervention.”
• Daniel Hannan: “The best thing Mark Carney can do for the British economy is stick narrowly to his brief.”
• A senior Bank official from the time: his intervention “was a mistake” and “he was seen as partisan.”
• Iain Duncan Smith / Leave side: “architect and promoter of Project Fear.”
On how he ran the place
• Nicky Morgan, who chaired the Treasury Committee: MPs kept score of how long it took before anyone else on the panel was allowed to speak.
• Lord Moynihan: “I thought he was a disaster as governor… flying blind when it came to predicting inflation.”
The line that never died
• Pat McFadden, again, because it followed him out the door: “One day hot, one day cold.”
The question is no longer who Mark Carney is and what his goal is.
The question is whether Canada can withstand what comes next.
Different job same egotistical attitude towards the free world.
The only thing more desperate than his agenda is his insistence that we pretend to believe it.
Resign Carney, The country deserves a leader, not an excuse.
Your legacy doesn’t deserve another chapter!
"strong steady increase in third world immigration." That is a sure way to destroy Canada. Mo amount of growth will offset the costs of absorbing these untrained immigrants, who will never join and assimilate into Canada.
Bye, bye, its been nice knowing you.
Mark Carney and the Liberals are still holding solid in the polls at 96 %. Solid support for Carneys strong action to repeall a US militairy invasion , growing foreign investment, and a strong steady increase in third world immigration.
“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
— Winston Churchill
