Dearest Mother-
Tears of pride make it difficult to put ink to paper. Though we were not victorious, these men fought bravely with the love of Stone County by their side. The pain will subside and memories become fuzzy, but their legacy is forever etched in history.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Today is the day! MG McFarland has his guns oiled and ready along with extra shells for trusty no7. BG Cagle ordered his usual battle day breakfast; unsweet tea and marmet hash, cooked to 212 degrees.
History is knocking, it's time we answer the door.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Today we leave the friendly confines of Camp Langley to meet a battalion of giant cat men on unfamiliar plains. With Stone County behind us, and MG McFarland and BG Cagle in the saddle leading the charge, we hope to be victorious in the eastern campaign.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Wolf howls and huzzah from Stone Co! The cave eagles fought but couldn’t sink their talons. MG McFarland unloaded trusty no7 and BG Cagel's hot stream took out their wings. We have prevailed in our western campaign. We now head east for one final engagement.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Final combined-arms rehearsal is complete and we are ready to defend Camp Langley against the eagle brigade. It could be my eyes playing tricks, but MG McFarland’s biceps appear to be slightly larger than last week. I hope our trusty no7 is as primed as he.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
On this day of thanks I feel moved to practice gratitude. A brief list of things I'm thankful for:
*Fermented possum milk
*Dr. Robertson's Multipurpose Marmet ointment
*To battle in the company of fine men
*MG McFarland sans sleeves
*BG Cagel's hot "tea"
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Wolf howls and huzzah! Our invasion of Boone County was a success. Our calvary charged their lines and wore out their defenses. Pirates say dead men tell no tales but I am happy to say we are alive and will get to tell ours for another week.
Feeling elated
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
We have loaded the wagons and put Camp Langley at our backs. Tomorrow we battle an unfamiliar brigade of river pirate's who prefer to do battle on land rather than water. I don't know the land version of Davey Jones' Locker, but I plan to send them there.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
We stayed up late and slept in because the celebration went longer tonight! We conquered a mountain not scaled in 25 years and we have no plans to return to base camp. Valor and honor were on display at Camp Langley and these memories will last us a lifetime.
Carl
Dearest Mother-
There's a nip in the air this morning as I eat my possum hash and drink my coffee. Trusty no7 has been calibrated for a most accurate shelling and BG Cagle will certainly have his special brew at the perfect temp for our engagement with the lake tribe.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Wolf howls and huzzah! Zeus's bolts may've delayed our engagement, but he, nor the cat men, could overcome our rough necked crew! Despite their sharp claws we battled with heart and passion to defend Camp Langley. As I write, war drums echo in the distance.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
The cat men from the bright lights of Cassvegas are doubling their march pace and will meet us at Camp Langley sooner than anticipated. Apparently the "balls of fire" rule of retired MG Moler is no longer in place. No matter, trusty no 7 is loaded and ready.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
My slumber was disturbed by a peculiar sound! The hills echoed with soft purrs and what I believe to be the sharpening of claws on a scratching posts. No doubt the cat men are ready to engage, I hope our brief leave has not left our underbellies soft.
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Wolf howls and huzzah! The green mountain climbers gave us a run but in the end MG McFarland kept the cavalry charging and BG Cagle delivered a sockdolager that put them to sleep. Prepare the feast, tonight we dine on possum steak and fermented marmot milk!
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Tomorrow we travel to the flat mountains of Lawrence Co to engage the green mountain climbers. They are a fierce band who know us well. I'm reminded of the words of 5-Star Gen Gosch who said, "though the struggle is mighty, the fruit is worth the haul."
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
Wolf howls and huzzah from Stone Co! They put up a good fight but we were able to declaw the angry kitties with only a few scratches and a little blood. Nothing that some Robertson's Multipurpose Marmet ointment and some fermented possum milk can't fix!
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
I received the pre-combat checklist from MG McFarland:
Dbl rations of thick cut Marmot belly
Trusty no7 polished with extra canisters
Cat nip
Kettle to brew BG Cagel's tea
All is well at Camp Lang. Tomorrow we raise flag and put the catmen on French leave!
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
This morning I was greeted with a slight chill in the air, the smell of coffee and hardtack, and a fire in my breadbasket. We are dressed in our stomping boots and ready to tussle! Time to find out if the brigade of dawg men have more bay or bite!
-Carl
Dearest Mother-
A tough encounter at Camp Langley. We put several bullets in our feet and ran out of bandages from the scores of paper cuts from our cartridges. We corrected our sights but ran out of bullets. No major casualties to report except some pride. On to the next.
