@DailyRTSH I do hope that one day a director will say in an interview: "Hey, guess what? I've seen all the previous live-action movies, and I love them. I even want to include a Paul W.S. Anderson-style Easter egg in my new RE film."🤔
That kind of change is often a sign that the distributor is working to comply with local censorship requirements in an effort to secure a theatrical release.
It looks like Sony Pictures released the official Chinese trailer for #ResidentEvil today.
An interesting detail is that the blood effects from the scene where a zombie falls from a building have been removed in this version @RE_Wiki#REBHFun
@LucaDeAndrea21 We don't know yet. In fact, releasing promotional materials doesn't always guarantee approval for censorship and a release in (mainland) China, so let's wait and see.
@calistri@DailyRTSH 👌relieved to hear that. My friend told me today that this book was taken down, which really startled me (although the Amazon page quickly came back up)
@AVARY Hi @AVARY ! sorry to bother you. Could you talk about the script you conceived for the Silent Hill 2 movie adaptation? I'm curious if it has more to do with the 2006 film
@avpgalaxy Okay but what does "before the Covenant and after the Resurrection" mean? Will there be flashbacks & 200 years time jump? How does this fit into the (possible) Covenant sequel movie at the time? I really wish the interviewer had asked at least one more question to clarify
@project_umb Please correct me if I'm wrong: Some of the ideas from BIO 3(Ship), which Kamiya was in charge of, were once considered for use in CV? I recall the artist mentioning plant enemies and a ship heading to the polar regions.
@leonluo@RE_Wiki Gold Wall Press was the first to actually obtain a license, releasing it twice within five years. The second release had a different cover (corrected some translations perhaps) and was titled "25th Anniversary Platinum"
@leonluo@RE_Wiki UCG's exploited a loophole in publishing regulations. I recall they needed to bypass approval by attaching a DVD/VCD (usually a game soundtrack or other related video material) to the back of the book, thus registering it as supplementary reading material to audiovisual products
@RE_Wiki In addition, the novel based on the movie Resident Evil: Retribution was also introduced to China, but strangely, the book was simply titled Resident Evil and you can't find any movie elements on the cover. And The Umbrella Chronicles novel got the Taiwan version
@RE_Wiki The set shown in your picture was published in 2021 and was the first time it was officially licensed and imported through a legitimate publisher (of course, it only includes the seven books from SD Perry).
@RE_Wiki For a long time, censorship of publications in China was very lax. If I remember correctly, these books were pirated at least once or twice afterward.
Although Rose Blank was never published, I believe you can find unofficial translations on the Chinese internet.
@RE_Wiki Yeah I can confirm it's real. This novel series was first translated and published unauthorizedly by the mainstream local gaming magazine UCG between 2007 and 2008, using the Japanese cover. It included the first seven books plus To the Liberty
