For a moment, fear returned in my head
What if I choose the wrong direction?
What if I fail again?
What if nobody comes?
The questions screamed louder than my pain. But this time, the cat didn’t run from them. He stood up.
Then I’ll learn.
He took another step.
Something happened on the road that he never learned how to explain. One wound became another. The things that once made him feel safe slowly disappeared. And eventually, he stopped expecting anyone to come looking for him.
He was once a cat that knew nothing about pain.
He knew the warmth of a home.
He knew what it felt like to be wanted.
He knew the comfort of sleeping without fear.
Then life changed.
