@riprap1 The Bear Tracker 885 is a great radio scanner hybrid! I have a 885 radio in my truck too and with the GPS receiver works wherever you go. Very easy to update the frequency data base also. Did have to send it in once to get the off/on knob fixed.
@riprap1 CB is still hot! I installed a Bear Tracker 885 in my truck for when Iβm traveling. The 885 also scans police and fire by auto loading the frequencies by a GPS antenna. I pulled my dual band ham radio because it was practically dead.
Wouxun KG-935H tri-band HT. May be the best HT on the market for the money. I like it! Dual receiver. 8 watt TX power. Nice color multi setting display. Un-lockable and you can charge it with USB C or charging cradle.
You already heard that MFJ is shutting down production. This post is to share my thanks to Martin for his 55 years of contribution to our great hobby. During my 61 years as a ham, I bought dozens of products from MFJ. Martin, Happy 80th Birthday β Many Happy Returns, my friend.
@TheNotARubicon Are you better off paying little more for βbrandβ name repeater? This one still costs some fazoles and not much less than Bridgecom for example
Bearcat SDS200 digital scanner in my truck. GPS automatically loads the frequencies as you travel. Chinese IHF/VHF radio above. Both plug into cigarette π¬ lighter. Lip mount antennas
Completely pleased with the performance of the Yaesu ATAS-120A. Just returned from using it for the first time. It worked as well as or better than any antenna I've tried so far on a #POTA#hamradio activation.
@TheNotARubicon Iβm an extra class HAM π·! I have some Anytone, Woxun, Xiegu radios. Chinese radios are great value for the money even on HF! (X5105 and G90)The micro mobile radios with cigarette lighter plugs are great! I like Mighty Fine Junk (MFJ) stuff too! π
Micro dual band mobile radio powered by cigarette lighter. 20 watts! The Anysecu WP9000. Has 3x VFOs. Display is on the speaker microphone. Good radio for the money! Only drawback is volume controlled in menu. About size of your HT.
@TheNotARubicon Iβm a happy HAM and have a lot of fun on HF, digital, and POTA. But GMRS is the new CB and it beats 2M and 70CM. There are a lot of good dudes on GMRS. GMRS interoperability between radios makes it very utilitarian
Back on DMR with Moonraker FireSpot hotspot from @DXEngineering . Not plug and play but got it configured and on air. Radio is original Anytone 878UV. Great radio may upgrade to the IIPlus! 73!
