I think for many longtime fans of the NBA, being able to see flaws in our superstars—LeBron in 2011, Magic in 1984, Jordan vs. Bad Boys—and then watch them evolve and overcome, is why we love the league. That’s what we want to see.
Can’t wrap my head around the fact there are people so blinded by their hate towards LeBron that they have missed out on one of the greatest players/athletes in the history of the world.
I feel sorry for them 😓
Magic retired at 36, Bird retired at 35,
Jordan at 38 (we call ceremonial years)
Kobe at 37 farewell tour and praised, Tim Duncan retired at 40 and his last couple years he was allowed to just be and play. No expectations. Dirk made all star game at 40 averaging 7 and 3 because he was appreciated and honored. Draymond says LeBron deserves that and people get in an uproar. It happens to all the greats. Why is it a problem with a LeBron?
Anyway
LeBron at 41 expected to compete to win it all. Ridiculed if he doesn’t. KD at 37 expected to compete to win it all. Ridiculed if he doesn’t. Steph at 38 team ridiculed for being in play in. I don’t know when we got here but we live in the era of discredit and hypocrisy; but how quickly we forget how we treated the greats of old. 🤷🏾♂️
