Am I alone in my anger when trumpsters say I must oppose refugees from Mexico because they are taking those menial, black jobs? Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery is a black job. @POTUS is a black job. Full Professor is a black job. Adviser to #trump or Grand Wizard is a white job.
@Acyn 6/ Like this one. Make sure you document your registration status 89 days before the election. You can't be removed from the rules after that. You can still vote provisional if there's a problem, but there are more hoops to jump through to make sure your ballot gets counted.
"If you change a presidential nominee at this point in the game, the candidate loses."
@HC_Richardson weighs the aftermath of @JoeBiden’s disastrous debate, and argues that excessive coverage eclipses the fact that his opponent is "trying to destroy our country."
Roy: One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing. One. That I can go campaign on and say we did. Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me, one meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done
This is for the young progressives out there. When I was a bit younger, I was terribly disappointed with then President Bill Clinton, who signed the hateful DOMA and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell into law. It seemed he had betrayed all of his values and the LGBTQ community that had helped get him elected. There was a part of me that said I would stand on principle and never vote for him again.
But then I remembered, voting isn’t about loving everything about your candidate. Voting for me is about making a strategic move that will best advance the cause of democracy, freedom and peace for all people, even if my candidate of choice really, really let me down.
I supported Bill Clinton for a second term, even though he had just signed DOMA into law, a law that said my love for my husband Brad was not enough to be legally recognized, not ever.
Candidates aren’t perfect. We shouldn’t ever expect them to agree with us always, even on the most basic of things. But we cast our votes as a prayer for them to do better because we know they can, and their hearts are in the right place.
Bill Clinton came around to supporting my community, without exception. It took time. We got there. So don’t waste your vote. Use it wisely, and make the decision, even if it’s hard, to back the best candidate for what the world needs, and to help prevent an utter catastrophe if, heaven forbid, the other one is elected.
He continued "but you were a student trapped in a school that the slowest — you know, in the wild we’ll say the slowest gazelle does not survive, but yet the herd moves at that pace. So the brightest child sometimes is held back in order —" WTF

I’ll be honest with y’all, this man ran unopposed last cycle. We’re not letting that happen again. Racism has no place in our governing body.

Yesterday, we were expelled from the Tennessee state house. Today, we were talking to the White House about common sense gun laws and protecting our democracy. We fight on! ✊🏾
Tonight as Tennessee House Republicans push forward to schedule vote on our expulsion, Speaker Sexton orders the gallery cleared as crowd chants “fascists.”
Media forced out at as well.
Then, Rep. Lafferty (R-Knox) pushes me and grabs my phone.
This is a sad day for Tennessee.
Am I alone in my displeasure at @drscottjensen‘s whining that @Tim_Walz‘s COVID policies required sacrifice from Minnesotans? He wants to make comparison to WW2 era policies? Let’s talk about food, gas, shoe, rubber rationing. “Sacrifice” and “greater good” mean nothing to him?
OMG! This is an elected official, a U.S. Representative. He's speaking publically. How can anyone support this man. He is only part of the problem. The problem is that people are supporting this behavior with their vote.
OMG, he openly states that states should be allowed to ban interracial marriages. What about Brown v. Topeka? Is his klan hood in that chest on the mantel?
