BOMBSHELL:
Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s own mother urges voters not to vote for her daughter.
“My name is Donna Arthur and I’m Amy Acton’s mother. I worked at Children and Family Service Association, building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in America.
I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem.
She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life.
My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that.
Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.”
That’s one hell of an October surprise.
UPDATE:
Mahoning County Clerk of Court, Michael Ciccone, flees after refusing to allow inspection of 1978 Acton Records.
A lawsuit is already being filed, his office is aware.
They’ll try to delay the release till after the election.
All of this to try and solidify the response by the Acton campaign to the ad featuring her mother.
If she’s not a liar, and everything is above board, why are you hiding the records from the people?
Just be honest. It’s not hard.
Or maybe it is?
THEY RAN AWAY?!
I Just showed up at Mahoning County’s title department for an in-person records inspection under the statute — the records tied to the Acton case.
Clerk of Court bounced me:
“We don’t do microfilm anymore. Go to the title department.”
Walk in. Deputy tells me the woman who runs records left the building three or four minutes before I got there and said they’re closed the rest of the day.
If the case is locked tight and airtight… why are people running?
I’m not going anywhere.
If you think you’ll hide from me till the end of this election you’re going to lose that bet.
UPDATE: The Mahoning County Clerk of Courts has now REFUSED even a physical inspection of the 1978 Acton records.
Even though required by Ohio law.
That’s alright, guess we’ll go the other route:
Effective upon receipt, we are bringing suit. There is no legal basis for refusing inspection of public records.
We’re not going away.

@AndrewKolvet It gets better Andrew.
The Mahoning County officials are stonewalling me on the records request.
They won’t release copies of the records.
NEW: Mahoning County Officials are “uncomfortable releasing unredacted versions” of the 1978 case related to Acton.
After giving me the run around, and initially refusing to give me copies, we may be making progress.
I am waiting on an answer from the Clerk of Courts, Michael Ciccone, to approve a physical inspection of the unredacted records.
This conversation does CONFIRM that the records released yesterday to the media are indeed real records, not fake as I previously thought, though it ALSO confirms that they are incomplete.
More updates will follow.
I have now confirmed via Mahoning County officials directly that the records released yesterday to the media are not fake.
The documents are incomplete, but real.
I was wrong. @Anc_Aesthetics is not a liar, and issue I full retraction/correction of my statement stating so.
Brent, member of the CoC Mahoning County office confirms:
I just spoke with Mahoning County Clerk of Courts office.
These records are only available via microfilm.
More importantly––NONE of them have been released to the public yet. They are currently processing the documents.
Meaning, these are FAKE, and you, are a liar.
Just visited the Mahoning County Clerk of Courts.
The file for the 1978 case is indeed only microfilmed.
The first reaction when I requested the full file was:
“There needs to be redactions and I’m not releasing it today”
When I demanded legally binding in person inspection under R.C. 149.43, a manager appeared.
Telling me that the clerk of court does not handle the microfilm anymore, and directing me to a different office.
Headed there now.
Remember, the Democrats (and loser GOP) crying moral outrage about the Acton Ad are the same people who cheered when they went through Melania’s underwear drawer.
Spare me the crocodile tears.
Run it.
