#OTD 1424 a survey of Weoley Castle was made as part of settling an ownership dispute between Maurice Berkeley & Lady Bergavenny. The survey gives a room by room description of the castle & surrounding land. It helped archaeologists in the 30s & 50s identify rooms on the ground.

Happy #NationalPieDay! In medieval & Tudor cooking, the pastry case of a pie (sometimes called a 'coffyn') was often an inedible vessel in which to cook the meat inside. There was supposedly a C16th saying: “If it’s good, tis better in a Coffyn” – which is still true today 🥧🥧🥧
We had a brilliant evening celebrating all @BM_AG staff and volunteers at our annual Thank You Party in @ETRBirmingham. Perfect opportunity to award a few #volunteer long service awards too!👌🏅
On #InternationalVolunteerDay we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful @BM_AG#volunteers. Your passion, enthusiasm and time help us to care for nine museums and historic properties and we are very lucky to have your support. Thank you!
