( If I had a nickel every time a blond-haired character who’s good with a trident fell in love with a girl who could be called Annie, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s funny that it happened twice )
She felt it the moment the words left her mouth, that subtle shift, like the air had thinned or something unseen had turned its attention toward her. The joke landed wrong, and worse, it lingered. “For what it’s worth, I think you look pretty good as a tree.”
Annie let out a quiet breath, glancing down at Buttercup “Honestly? It’s… different” she admitted, a small smile tugging at her lips. “Still figuring out where I fit, I guess. But it’s not all bad.” She hesitated, then added, softer “I miss the sea, that’s for sure.”
“I’m pretty sure if you blush, it won’t be because of me” she said, glancing at the glass she’d drained in one go. “Look on the bright side, they didn’t load you up with ten pounds of extensions to push the mermaid agenda…. I’d rather be one, luring them to their deaths”

⠀⠀⠀she's better off without the drinking, anything that you enjoy even the tiniest bit will be used to control you or sedate you. gulping half of her drink in one go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀❛❛⠀stop it, Annie. you are gonna make me blush. ❜
