Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Shaea Al-Zandani has issued a package of decisions appointing new leaders at the Ministry of Finance and the Tax and Customs Authorities, as part of the government's efforts to accelerate the implementation of economic and financial reforms, enhance the efficiency of revenue-generating institutions, and improve public revenue collection.

The appointments come within the framework of restructuring and improving institutional performance, as well as implementing job rotation, with the aim of strengthening governance and transparency and improving the management of the state's public revenues, according to government media.

After more than a decade since the outbreak of the war, the United Nations Special Envoy for #Yemen, Hans Grundberg, believes that recent regional developments could open a new window of opportunity for peace efforts in the country. In his briefing to the Security Council, he said that the de-escalation following the recent understanding between the United States and Iran provides an opportunity to revive the political process, noting that Yemen has so far avoided slipping into a new wave of military escalation and that attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea have not resumed. However, he warned that this relative calm does not mean that the war is over, as the economic crisis continues to deepen, political divisions remain entrenched, and millions of Yemenis continue to bear the burden of the conflict through deteriorating public services, rising living costs, and shrinking employment opportunities.

While reaffirming the United Nations' ongoing efforts to encourage the parties to engage in dialogue, secure the release of detainees, and reduce tensions, Grundberg stressed that lasting peace can only be achieved through a comprehensive political settlement that addresses the root causes of the crisis and brings an end to years of protracted conflict.

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, warned that any de-escalation agreements that do not address the Iranian regime's use of armed militias as cross-border proxies would remain "fragile agreements" limited to crisis management without providing sustainable solutions.

During a meeting with Turkey's Chargé d'Affaires to #Yemen, Ömer Allah Eşler, Al-Alimi said that Yemenis do not view the problem with the Iranian regime solely through the lens of the nuclear issue, but rather through what he described as an "expansionist project" that has created, supported, and armed rebel proxies that have usurped state institutions and threatened regional security and international navigation.

He stressed that achieving genuine peace requires respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, ending support for militias, cutting off their sources of arms and funding, and ensuring that the state alone holds the monopoly over the use of force and the authority to make decisions of war and peace.

Iranian media reported on Monday that Tehran informed mediators between Washington and Tehran that it is "prepared to completely close the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait."

Iran had previously issued three consecutive threats during April to use the Bab al-Mandab Strait as a pressure tool against the United States and Israel. It also signaled the possibility of closing the strategic waterway through its regional allies and disrupting shipping and trade in the Red Sea should tensions escalate further.
