For anyone reading: Notice how in Matthew 21-23 the people confessed Jesus as Lord, but they were never saved since they were relying on their "many wonderful works" but they never once believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, they never believed Salvation was by GOD's grace through faith alone in the Gospel of Christ.

Jesus said "he never knew them.” Jesus Christ did not say “I knew you then you sinned too much (or didn't do enough good works) so you lost your salvation. “ Jesus never knew them because they never believed on Him. They instead were trusting in themselves, their own "many wonderful works" a false faith plus works gospel sadly, instead of Jesus Christ and his finished work alone.

You see how they are basically saying "look at what we did" "look at the many wonderful works we did" "look at me." "I did this" "I did that" "Me" "Me" "Me" "I" "I" "I"...It's not about us, it's about what Jesus Christ did for us. Eternal life and the forgiveness of sins is a free gift one accepts by faith alone in the Gospel.

Matthew 7:21-23 is actually a great verse and warning to show salvation is by GOD's grace through faith alone and not by any "wonderful works..."
