My question regarding the Port City Project is, will the rest of the population have to sacrifice in order that the rich and famous get to be comfortable. Even during power/water cuts, Colombo 3, 4, 5 & 7 were the last to get affected, remember? How much worse will it be with the Port City project? Or has it all been sorted out without extra stress on the already heavily burdened citizens of this country?

The aerostat carried the drone 42 km and released it from 8 km altitude, while the UAV used only 5% of its battery. The method extends range by combining balloon distance, high-altitude release and battery preservation, potentially pushing strike reach 1.5 to 2 times beyond the current 100 to 150 km. #Ukraine

Under Sections 5, 29 & 36, the Secretary to the Treasury is responsible for operational control and ensuring the security of computerized public financial systems.

If warnings were raised and an unsecured system was still used for handling public funds, then accountability cannot be separated between policy approval and administrative execution both levels must be examined.

This is now a test of consistency and transparency in governance: will the same standards of accountability that are publicly stated be applied equally when a complaint is formally made and names arise in an investigation?

In 72 hours: three US destroyers attacked, three Iranian targets struck, four oil tankers disabled, a 45 square kilometer oil slick at the hub for 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports, and President Trump calling it “just a love tap.”

The market closed at record highs.

USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason came under fire in the Strait of Hormuz on May 7. Per US Central Command, all three Arleigh Burke-class destroyers were targeted by Iranian missiles, drones and fast-attack craft. None were struck. American forces responded with self-defense strikes against Iranian targets near three ports along the Strait of Hormuz: Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Bandar Kargan. The blockade had become a shooting war.

The same week, US Central Command disabled three Iranian-flagged oil tankers. An F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS George H.W. Bush fired precision munitions into the smokestacks of M/T Sea Star and M/T Sevda on May 8. An F/A-18 from USS Abraham Lincoln disabled M/T Hasna’s rudder with a 20-millimeter cannon on May 6. The Touska had been disabled April 19. Four ships in three weeks. Admiral Brad Cooper said US forces remain committed to “full enforcement of the blockade.”

Then came Kharg.

A suspected oil spill of approximately 45 square kilometers appeared on satellite imagery west of Iran’s Kharg Island, the hub for ninety percent of Iran’s oil exports. The slick appears in Copernicus Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 satellite passes from May 6 to May 8. Researchers at the Conflict and Environment Observatory and Data Desk consultancy say it is potentially the largest oil spill since the war began seventy days ago. The cause and point of origin are currently unknown. The US military and Iran’s UN mission did not immediately respond. Iran has called the report “false” and part of “psychological warfare,” claiming the spill came from a European tanker discharging waste.

Iran did not respond to the fourteen-point memorandum negotiated by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner through Pakistani mediators. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expected an answer Friday. Friday came and went. The MOU made no mention of Iran’s existing stockpile of more than 400 kilograms of near-weapons-grade uranium.

The S&P 500 closed at 7,365.12. Brent crude fell nearly eight percent to $101.27. The Bloomberg Commodity Index sits at 141, the highest level since February 2013. The market priced an MOU that Iran has not signed and a deadline that Trump publicly scrapped.

Trump’s response to the kinetic exchange was that “the ceasefire is going. It’s in effect.”

A ceasefire under which the United States bombed Iranian targets while a 45 square kilometer oil slick appeared at Iran’s main export terminal.

Trump simultaneously announced a three-day Russia-Ukraine ceasefire for May 9, 10 and 11. Two parallel ceasefires. One the United States is bombing through. One the United States is announcing.

Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public since the war began February 28.

On May 14 and 15 Trump arrives in Beijing for his first China visit in eight years.

Friday was the chip. The slick is the wildcard. Beijing is the table.

By May 15 we will know whether a love tap was peace.
