A lot of you are asking what a weGo Smart Card is..
A weGo Smart Card is contactless payment card for public transport in Uganda, designed to enable cashless, tap and go fare payments on buses and trains.
You load money onto the card using mobile money or FlexiPay, then use it when boarding public transport. Instead of paying cash, you tap the card on a machine and the fare is deducted instantly.
There is no need for cash or searching for change. The system uses contactless technology similar to what is used in modern transport systems in cities like London.
It makes travel easier because boarding becomes faster and payments are automatic. It also helps you track and control how you spend on transport, while reducing risks linked to handling cash.
In simple terms, you load the card and use it every time you travel by just tapping and going.
