El Senado aprobó la Ley de Economía Digital. 🏛️

Question for crypto folks in Mexico and LatAm:
When you need cash from your USDC, what's your route today? Exchange → bank → ATM? A friend? Nothing that works?
We're building MicoPay so the answer can be "someone nearby with cash."

6/ Digital and cash don't have to fight. The bridge just has to be close to you. We're pre-launch. Join the waitlist 👉 https://t.co/kInZEa8KIj #remesas#remittances#usdc#stablecoins
3/ Now the remittance side. August 2026: $5.45B landed in Mexico across 13.2M transfers, $412 on average. Jan–Aug: $41.8B, and 99.1% of it arrived as electronic transfers. (Banxico)
5/ That's what we're building with MicoPay: → see who nearby has cash → compare rates, lock your USDC in escrow on Stellar (Soroban) → show your QR, get pesos in hand Funds release only then.
2/ Cash isn't gone. If the internet, power or the payment system fails, cash and checks are still accepted. Critics flagged uneven internet and banking access, plus terminal and QR costs for small shops.
1/ What passed on Oct 6 (in general): the Digital Economy Law lets the Treasury (SHCP) name sectors where only digital payments are accepted. Toll booths and gas stations are expected first. Next: the article-by-article vote, then the Senate.
Mexico's lower house just voted 330 in favor of a law to push the country toward digital payments.
Meanwhile, remittances already arrive digitally.
So why does the last mile still run on cash? A thread 🧵
JUST IN: Mastercard launches a crypto-linked card in Mexico
The card, developed in partnership with SoFi and Orbi, lets users spend directly from crypto balances, with the funds converted to fiat automatically when they pay.
¿Adiós al efectivo? No tan rápido.
