🚨2017 Dearborn PD Open Carry Stunt and Standoff -- Ski Mask + Tactical Vest + loaded firearms.
On Feb. 5, 2017, James Baker (24) and Brandon Vreeland (40) walked into the public lobby of Dearborn Police Headquarters in Michigan.
Baker wore a ski mask, body armor, a holstered Glock 19, and a short-barreled rifle slung across his chest.
Vreeland wore body armor and carried cameras.
They said they were there to file a complaint after an earlier traffic stop and to test whether officers would honor Michigan’s open-carry law.
Officers drew guns within seconds.
Baker argued it was legal in a public lobby. He eventually complied.
No shots were fired. Both were arrested.
Police seized a loaded AP-14 with a 47-round magazine, a loaded Glock plus extra mags, body armor, a mask, and recording gear.
They were charged with carrying a concealed weapon, brandishing, resisting/obstructing, and disturbing the peace.
Both were convicted.
🔹Baker got 9 months in jail plus probation.
🔹Vreeland got 9 months to 5 years.
Michigan Open Carry, Inc. publicly called the stunt reckless and said it did not support them.
❓Is open carry still legal while wearing a ski mask and a tactical vest?
❓If you were the officer behind the desk, what would you have done in the first five seconds?
A self-driving car saw a gun…
pulled itself over…
and called the cops on its own passengers.
Now, were the people inside probably up to no good?
Based on the story, yeah.
But that’s not the part that bothers me.
The part that bothers me is this:
Waymo said it detected a violation of its terms of service involving a firearm.
Terms of service.
Not a gun law.
Not a judge.
A company policy.
So what happens when a legal gun owner gets in?
What happens if the camera sees an open carry gun?
Does the car pull over?
Does it lock the doors?
Does it call police?
Because once “liability” becomes the excuse, your rights don’t have to be banned directly.
They can just become impossible to use inside the systems you depend on.
Be honest:
Would you get into a self-driving car if you knew it could call police because it saw your gun?
@JP23177686@Boldyboy1975 False. You should understand your rights and laws and yes they do differ for every state they are not universal . I am a police officer and this is 100% abuse of power.
