The series of works ᴘᴇᴛᴀʟɪ ɪɴꜰʀᴀɴᴛɪ
(Broken Petals)

It was born from my reflection on the Media and crime news, the most current ones, which—through the electronic devices we all hold in our hands every day—are accessible to everyone.
I don’t believe the duty of reporting should become an anesthetic that makes us accustomed to an increasingly violent and senseless reality.
We must know, we are involved, but we also need to protect, above all, the most innocent eyes.
I decided to approach this theme with my style,
mixing and overlapping my abstract geometries with anonymous figures, shadows of people living in those places.
They are disturbing shadows, blood stains that hide, or conceal themselves within the beauty of nature.

I carried out an inverse process compared to Thomas Hirschhorn, an artist I admire and have known for decades, who in his collages hides passersby with pixelation as a paradox and critique, to satirize and invert media practices.

In my series of works, to address the theme, I turn to the beauty of nature, to color, and mainly to a style that can be connected to Art Nouveau.
Here the graphic line is decidedly illustrative, removing the distressing or heartbreaking feeling of a photograph.
Art Nouveau is an optimistic art form, seeking to bring beauty into everyday life.

In my works, I have also used a pattern which, through entirely manual work combined with Photoshop, dresses and fills flat colors with a texture that simulates a tapestry.
It’s a way to highlight the desire to return to the beauty of craftsmanship, but with a contemporary vision. Pixels build all of this—36 million pixels, tiny dots of color that, together with the others, form the overall image.
