@Stocksupper_ I never forget being in the grocery store and looking at $tsnp at 0.019 deciding rather to go all in. 25k shares i had before the big run. The most money I've ever seen in my bank account. Couldn't believe it. Hopefully $gvsi will bring back that memory.
I took a friend for a "RoboTaxi" ride tonight in my @Tesla Model Y LR with FSD v12.3.6. Parked in front of her house, I used voice control to enter a destination (Denver Beer Company), put the Y into Drive, and then pulled down the stalk to engage FSD. It drove us flawlessly downtown in Friday night traffic including, navigating around all of the kids, cars, & chaos at a skatepark, and on to DBC. FSD pulled into the first available space near DBC and I put in a new destination of my friend's home, which I knew would take us on two highways.
FSD handled the trip home perfectly, dealing with some crazy traffic due to a crash. It did some great driving, slowing as needed to get into the righthand lane for our exit.
The only time I had to intervene was when an ambulance came up behind us, I disengaged and pulled over. As soon as the ambulance had passed us, I re-engaged FSD and it completed the trip.
As we were getting out of the car, she said she was amazed and thought it was pretty close to being ready for robotaxi service. She's a High School French teacher and isn't too excited about technology, but she could see this being useful for our aging parents.
I realize FSD still has some ways to go before it is ready for fully unsupervised taxi service, but the fundamentals are there. We need to see the following:
1) It needs to know how to deal with emergency services, including hand gestures by officers.
2) It needs to understand what HOV lanes are and not treat them as left-hand lanes.
3) The current navigation puts FSD in less than optimal situations such as unnecessary unprotected lefts and crossings, when if it were one or two blocks over it could have a protected crossing or left-hand turn at a light.
4) Improvement with the speed control. While I've generally been very pleased with the speed control in v12.3.6, there are still times when it is too fast or slow. Sometimes it takes cues from vehicles in an adjacent lane, this needs to stop as sometimes the other vehicle is slowing down to get behind us.
