Quick take on FSD 14.1.7 on Cybertruck.
We are here, banging at the gates of full autonomy.
It's so damn good. FFS!
The word that comes to mind is "confident." The truck drove like a human—a super confident one at that. I'll take the leap and say "It has replaced my wife as a driver/driving option."
During my hour-plus drive I got bored/sleepy it was so good, I opened up @grok on my main screen and had a full on conversation with Ara. We talked my dog's behavior, then about firearms, so much so she recommended a local gun shop (with directions), where I ended up going. It was like having someone else (who is really fkn smart) in the car with me. Surreal.
FSD handled a very complex round-a-bout, chewed up the highway and avoided a super close call when a teenager flew out in-front of me while exiting a bank (for some reason the Dashcam footage didn't record it?)
I loved the scroll wheel for changing modes vs. speed. I used this almost as much as Grok. It was great b/c the police in our area are fairly aggressive, so "Standard" works excellent, but once out of our local area "Hurry" marries up with my driving style. I will say "Mad Max" was a beast on the Florida highway, you could feel the attitude and it looked for opportunity, so fun. I might rename it to "Florida Man" mode, it drove like an aggressive Floridian.😂
A nice surprise. There was a lot more allowance to check my phone or use the main screen. The monitor only nagged me once (I was being pretty liberal with my phone (not politically😉) as to where it would have nagged me multiple times on the last FSD version.
Aha moment. Realizing I'm not needed as a driver and looking around for something to do or someone to talk to...enter Grok. It's crystal clear to see where this is going.
Quirks:
• Speed bumps. It really didn't pickup the speed bumps in our community like I expected this version would've. A little more training for this.
• Parking. When I arrived at my destination it dove head first in to the closest spot in front. Initially I was impressed but; First off, It went in fast (unlike the prior parking option=slow) and only made one slight adjustment, problem is the truck was totally crooked in the spot and sort of blocking in another car. Also, I would like a preference on "where to park" 'Close' or 'Further Away' from the destination. I prefer to keep my car away from the heathens at the front of my destination...and two, I don't mind a little walk.
This product keeps getting better. It's unheard of in automotive history that, not only does your vehicle get better over time it can also drive itself.🤯
Thank you for all of the incredibly hard work @Tesla@Tesla_AI@aelluswamy@wmorrill3@elonmusk —as a Cybertruck owner and Tesla shareholder my confidence level has never been higher.
It’s a bummer bc I get the: ‘Driver Assistance. Self-Driving/Active Saftey features unavailable/Camera alignment required…’ on my Cybertruck.
Message in the middle of my longer drives. Sometimes it resets after the drive, sometimes it doesn’t. It was just in for service and the alignment was done. So?
Bums me out bc my FSD stats would be a lot better if not for this issues.
@SawyerMerritt I remember waaaay back when Elon had said this would happen. Everyone laughed and shook their when I told them.
No what? Mining asteroids, that’s what!
@draecomino Bernie’s entire schtick is selling victimhood through fear and manufactured oppression.
It’s weak, formulaic and it’s entirely played out.
Pack it up and go to a Communist state Bern.
