Probably worth reminding everybody that NYC is not the center of the world, and what happens there is not necessarily reflective of what happens in the rest of the country.
That said, people are pissed about the economy and mad at the establishment in both political parties—candidates who can’t navigate that are going to lose everywhere.
Also, even if you don’t like Mamdani, you have to admit he is a much savvier politician than his critics give him credit for. Underestimate him at your peril.
Leiticia James to @IsaacDovere: she and other political leaders she’s spoken to are “disappointed” in Mamdani.
“All of us are a little frustrated with the Democratic Party. But you don’t blow it up. That’s what MAGA has done”

Senior Senate GOP aide on Trump abruptly canceling signing ceremony for housing bill:
“We saw glimpses of this during Trump’s first administration, but never in my lifetime have I seen a president so deliberately attempt to lose majorities for his own party.”
Attn: People who are nostalgic for the Good Old Days of mid-century news media
The 1950s news media was pathetic. Corrupt, stupid, gullible, craven, and incredibly pathetic. Reporters for some of the largest news organizations didn't just publish Joe McCarthy's slander verbatim. They collaborated with him to drive the Red Scare because it was good for newspaper sales and career advancement. They even went out to drink whiskey with McCarthy to brainstorm better ways to drum up anti-communism and helped him write his speeches.

Treasury just waived oil sanctions on Iran for 60 days — citing "progress."
Iran could rake in up to ~$10 billion off that decision alone.
In contrast, the Obama admin didn't lift sanctions until a deal was signed and the IAEA independently verified Iran's nuclear compliance.
Israel will not be able to begin the process of repairing its image and standing in the world until this lunatic (and Netanyahu) are thrown out of office.
No Democrats are running “to the right of Trump” on Iran.
But pointing out that he is settling the war on objectively terrible terms rather than just praising him for ending it is important to the politics of deterring future absurd wars.
Bill Pulte, showed up at his new job as DNI a day early on Thursday after asking for a list of every employee in the office so he could assess whether to fire them, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. https://t.co/TrDQPMKYIE
President Donald Trump said Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni “begged” him for a joint photo at this week’s G7 summit in France - a claim she called “fully made up.” https://t.co/T0zKHPssC9
Different people learn at different rates and in different ways that even if Trump does what you want, he'll tend to do it in the most corrupt and incompetent way possible. He's more likely to discredit or destroy your cause than advance it. The Iran War is no exception.
Pro-Israel groups deliberately turned Israel into a polarized issue and alienated almost the whole Democratic Party for the sake of a war that turned out to be as disastrous as Obama warned them and is going to end up with a deal that’s worse for them than JCPOA was.
MAGA will be remembered as the most embarrassing political phenomenon ever to stain the history of America, just a gutter movement that elevated the worst, dumbest, most vile among us
