Some absolutely insane low temperatures this morning for June 2...36 in Hyannis? 30 on the Vineyard!!! That should be the last of the 30s for quite some time
Not sure the last time we made one of these in late May
Yes, wet flakes will be possible to be seen in Massachusetts Saturday. Though the real show will be in the Presidentials of NH
[February 23rd, 2026 Blizzard Snow Totals]
📏Here's a look at all the ❄️snow reports we received from yesterday's historic blizzard! Thank you very much to everyone who submitted their snowfall reports. #MAwx#RIwx#CTwx
Round and Round it goes.
973mb NorEaster about 50 miles off Nantucket.
RI and South Eastern MA getting hammered
2 foot+ for Long Island and parts of NJ
Lake Champlain frozen! First time in seven years! NBC5 worked extensively with a local pilot and the National Weather Service in Burlington to complete this weeks-long analysis of the lake ice.
@ericfisher Most ponds (at least the smaller ones) have in the area have has safe enough ice for about two months straight in the Boston metro too that’s pretty impressive. Looks like most will have 3months of total coverage. That’s impressive
Going back over the past 11 years or so, I'd rate this last 3 week stretch in the Top 4 "most notable" winter runs.
1) 2015 snow blitz
2) 2018 Christmas-early Jan cold + blizzard
3) The past 3 weeks
4) The 3 nor'easters in March 2018
Other suggestions welcome!
Complex snow event today in Southern New England. The arctic cold front, indicated by the east moving band of snow, merged with an inverted trough leading to a narrow band of intense snowfall. Meanwhile eastern Massachusetts is having heavy ocean effect snow.
Probably a fools errand to try to chase the banding tomorrow, but this is the best estimate tonight (zoomed in version). Totals could vary quite a bit over a few miles tomorrow. #wbz
28-3 Boston over Norwood and I don't think Norwood is going to pull off a come from behind upset
The difference between having a breeze and being dead calm in a valley (Neponset Valley in this case)
