Lake Champlain frozen! First time in seven years! NBC5 worked extensively with a local pilot and the National Weather Service in Burlington to complete this weeks-long analysis of the lake ice.

@ericfisher Most ponds (at least the smaller ones) have in the area have has safe enough ice for about two months straight in the Boston metro too that’s pretty impressive. Looks like most will have 3months of total coverage. That’s impressive

1) 2015 snow blitz
2) 2018 Christmas-early Jan cold + blizzard
3) The past 3 weeks
4) The 3 nor'easters in March 2018

Complex snow event today in Southern New England. The arctic cold front, indicated by the east moving band of snow, merged with an inverted trough leading to a narrow band of intense snowfall. Meanwhile eastern Massachusetts is having heavy ocean effect snow.
