When things are moving very fast and people are losing their minds, it’s important to stay grounded. Turn off your phone, read scripture, spend time with friends, and remember internet fury is not real life. It’s going to be ok.
Please be praying for #Asheville. I was finally able to escape east today, but it’s likely worse than anyone knows right now.
This was Mills River the morning after, right near the Asheville airport. I couldn’t even get into the city. This needs more national attention.

Rode out #Hurricane#Helene in a parking lot just across my hotel in Valdosta, Georgia. Driving conditions were… not ideal. That’s why I stayed put.
Impacts were massive despite being 60+ miles inland. Winds definitely upwards of hurricane force. A station in town recorded a 95 mph wind gust shortly before going offline.
Driving back to northern Georgia, I was shocked how many trees came down even being hundreds of miles inland. I had to clear lots of trees just to move a few miles. Devastation was widespread, I’ve never seen so many trees down in such a large area. It almost seemed like endless tornado damage because of how devastating it was.
This hurricane will be one to remember for years to come. I was shocked how well put together Hurricane Helene was as it came inland across Georgia. The eye was well intact even being 100+ miles inland!
I get Irene/Sandy vibes from how damaging this storm was for hundreds of miles inland. The flash flooding in the Carolinas and Tennessee is a spitting image of what I saw many years ago in Irene, if not worse. It breaks my heart to see this all over again with communities and lives changed forever💔
An extreme wind warning is in effect for Perry FL, Madison FL, Monticello FL until 12:00 AM EDT for extremely dangerous hurricane winds. Treat these imminent extreme winds as if a tornado was approaching and move immediately to an interior room or shelter NOW!
