Here is tonight's Forecast Lab program, giving a neatly-packaged look at today's weather from hemispheric down to hurricane-scale. It wrapped up just 15 minutes ago so it has all the current information on #Milton including the latest recon flight passes.
Just marveling at the cross-section of this hailstorm near Amistad Reservoir NW of Del Rio TX at 0254 UTC. Just a sheer mass of 60 to 80 dBZ+ reflectivity extending well up into the 50,000 ft range, tops probably in excess of 60,000 ft.
Numerous stations in the Rockies and Western region are expected to break all-time March maximum temperatures today (large numbers). Values are official NWS forecast highs. Smaller red numbers indicate a daily record being broken. #heatwave
Yesterday's simultaneous 500 mb 594 dam high over Texas and 549 low in California BOTH set all-time 500 mb height records for those areas for the 3-week window of mid October, according to 1979-2009 CFSR climatology.
The meteorology and timeline of the Texas Hill Country flash flood event, with detailed radar and hydrography overlays upstream from Camp Mystic. #txwx#Kerrville
This image of a thunderstorm anvil with a sprite last night was posted earlier by @Astro_Ayers. Here we see it with geography and radar/satellite overlays. The storm was over rugged terrain northwest of Muzquiz MX, near Del Rio TX.
@OpsoFacto@Astro_Ayers@PatrickQJackson Not a UFO. Bottom right a prison near Bermejillo MX, bottom left Bermejillo, top right Tlahualilo de Zaragoza. Easy enough to figure out looking at historical imagery on the Worldview Black Marble night sensor.
Here is today's episode of Forecast Lab... a comprehensive, slightly technical overview of the weather across the US this evening. It normally runs on the other big video site but I thought I'd share it here. #weather#forecasting
Some news sites have been erroneously reporting this streak on visible satellite imagery as the fireball trail. That is the contrail from Southwest flight 1042 from Chicago to Montego Bay and appeared 30 minutes before the 1625Z meteor time. #fireball#meteor
With the massive duststorm on the Great Plains and tomorrow's SPC High Risk, I thought I'd crosspost my extended forecast discussion, released just minutes ago. If you want to see it here on X more often, let me know!
Here's the latest edition of Forecast Lab, which is a 20 minute, slightly technical overview of today's weather in the US and Canada. You can catch new episodes Wednesday & Friday as soon as they drop on my Forecast Lab channel over on the "Tube".
@MikeLindenWX If you are tired of the hype feel free to visit my Forecast Lab channel on YouTube. I'm sure I'm missing out on clicks, but I'm just not gonna do it unless there's good reason.
I rarely cover UFO topics, but I just finished this detailed radar analysis / ATC audio composite of the incident that happened out in Oregon last Saturday, reported by several commercial jets. Quite a mystery. #uap#UAPSightings#Oregon#dronesightings
Most of the Central US and Great Lakes areas are experiencing their hottest 60-day period on record compared with the last 50 years. Only in the western states are things more normal. Where has winter gone?
