@jdportes As with pensioners, farm owners cover a wide spectrum of financial wellbeing. Some have invested in farms but are not farmers, however others work the farms for their livelihood. You cannot affect one group without affecting the other.

Jenrick wants us to become like Russia and Belarus, the only European countries not to sign the agreement that was instigated by Churchill after WWII. It is nothing to do with the EU !

We are going to hear this claim a lot over the next few days. Jenrick is talking boll****. If the UK left the ECHR it would still be bound by other international obligations & treaties. So what’s the real motive here? Could it be the ECHR has protected the British people from abuses of power by its own government?

@jeansmith526383 @PeterStefanovi2 This is not an EU convention, but much greater and Europe wide. Only European countries not subscribed are Russia and Belarus. Every signatory is bound by its terms!

It is impossible to logically justify opposing the bill when in opposition, and now trying to have it upheld in the High Court. Even labour politicians don't have any real principles to guide them!

@jamesrbuk Fear of a media storm did not stop them from cutting the winter fuel allowance for many pensioners. I accept the costs are not the same, but if perception is important, where are their priorities ?
