Respectfully, I disagree with this, sir.

As an international student, I did my Master’s at a German 🇩🇪 public university tuition-free. I didn’t have to repay the tuition later either. The system deliberately subsidizes public higher education for both domestic and many international students.

A functional Nigerian 🇳🇬 public university may cost ₦1m+ per student annually to run, but it doesn’t automatically follow that the student must personally pay ₦1m.

Public education is an investment in human capital. Government funding, TETFund, research grants, endowments, alumni giving, industry partnerships and other revenue sources should all contribute.

Yes, we absolutely need to fund our universities properly. But in a country where many families are already struggling financially, simply transferring the funding gap to students risks pricing brilliant but poor Nigerians out of higher education.

People already graduate and struggle for years to secure decent jobs. Now imagine asking every family to find ₦1m per child, per year. 😭

Benny Hinn did this video many years ago. Probably 5-7 years now.

What drew this into his consciousness was an incident that happened in the ministry.

17-18 years ago before the incidence, he prophesied to a barren woman that she would have a child and he would become a prophet. 18 years later, the boy was standing in Benny’s meeting prophesying and ministering to people. Accurate 💯 prophecies.

Then, he saw a woman whose husband had cancer. This woman is close to Benny and one of his ministry’s financial donor. A major one. Benny was shocked that she never told him. Anyway, this young prophet told the woman to give a thousand dollars and his husband would be healed. She did, the husband died later. That was so devastating for pastor Benny and he had to check what went wrong.

I am a big fan of Pastor Benny and I respect him a lot. He’s my number one favourite minister and has the most financially accountable ministry in the US. He made healing the sick relatable and desirable for me. I love that he did this video.
I hope that we stop the transactional gospel in Nigeria. Many pastors attacked him after that video. But I hope our Nigerian pastors and Africa at large can stop the transactional and prosperity gospel.

He’s humble to do this and Pastor Benny is very accountable. Please let’s extend him grace.

Nigerian lecturers get away with so many things and, because there are little to no consequences for their incompetence, some of them act like gods.

Because tell me, in what sane continent will a student sit for an exam, sign in and out on the attendance sheet, submit their answer booklet, and then, when the results are released, be told they have a missing script?

When students write letters or demand that their scripts be found, some lecturers frustrate their efforts until they are left with no other option than to register the course again.

Do you know how many students have spent extra year(s) in Nigerian universities because of this dysfunction?

Don’t even get me started on the bad habit of delaying students’ results, which eventually affects their academic performance.

There are students in 400L who are yet to see some, or even most, of their 200L results. They don’t even know if they have missing scripts, carryovers, or any issue that ought to have been identified and resolved long before they got to 400L.

Some of them end up spending extra year(s) that could have been avoided if their results had been released on time.

Or is it the fact that students write exams, and then some lecturers hand the scripts over to master’s students to mark? Those ones end up failing a large number of them.

If there were consequences for these things, a lot more Nigerian students would graduate with better grades. The anyhowness in the Nigerian educational system is not normal.

Lecturers and institutions should be sued for behaviour like this.
