APR vs APY in Web3
Ever wondered why DeFi platforms show APR and APY?
Here’s the simple difference:
APR — Annual Percentage Rate
APR shows your estimated yearly return without compounding.
Example:
₦100,000 at 12% APR = ₦12,000 yearly reward.
APY — Annual Percentage Yield
APY includes compounding.
Your rewards are reinvested, allowing you to earn rewards on previous rewards.
So:
APR = Without compounding
APY = With compounding
Remember: A high APR/APY doesn't guarantee profit.
Rates can change, token prices can fall, and DeFi comes with risks like smart-contract bugs and impermanent loss.

Most people interact with a blockchain without ever seeing what makes it work.
You open an application, connect a wallet, confirm a transaction and move on.
But underneath that simple experience is an entire infrastructure layer.
TON uses blockchain infrastructure involving validators, smart contracts, transactions and applications working together to maintain and operate the network.
Understanding these components changes the way you look at blockchain technology.
You stop seeing it as just an app or a token.
You start seeing the infrastructure underneath the experience.
And that brings us to one of TON's most interesting relationships.

What If You Could Own More of Your Digital Life?
Imagine waking up one morning and realizing how much of your life now happens online.
You create content.
You build communities.
You collect digital assets.
You spend months building an audience and a digital identity.
But here’s the interesting part…
How much of that do you actually own?
For years, the internet has been built around platforms. You create your account, post your content, build your audience, and operate within the rules of someone else’s system.
Then comes Web3 with a different idea:
What if more of your digital life could belong to you?
Your wallet can become a gateway to different applications and ecosystems. Blockchain can allow digital assets to exist and move on-chain, while smart contracts can make certain rules transparent and programmable.
But ownership comes with responsibility.
Having control means learning how to protect that control.
Understand how your wallet works.
Learn what you’re signing.
Research projects before interacting with them.
Protect your private keys.
And never trust something simply because it looks familiar.
That’s why Web3 education matters.
The goal shouldn’t be to chase every trend or jump at every opportunity.
Understand first. Participate second.
Because once you understand what’s underneath the hype, you can see Web3 differently.
It’s not only about what you can buy.
It’s about what you can own, build, use, and contribute to.
Learn the technology. Then explore the possibilities.
🌐 Imagine discovering Web3 for the first time…
You open your phone and suddenly see words like crypto, NFTs, wallets, tokens, and blockchain everywhere.
It can feel confusing at first.
But Web3 is bigger than just trading tokens.
At its core, it’s about giving people more ways to own, participate, and contribute online.
Think of it as a new digital world being built piece by piece—where you’re not just watching from the outside.
You can learn it.
You can explore it.
You can build in it.
And this is where @RavenNetworkHQ 🐦⬛ comes into the picture—creating a space where people can learn, contribute, build reputation, and grow within Web3.
The journey starts with understanding the technology, then finding your place in the ecosystem.
Don’t just watch Web3 being built.
Learn it. Explore it. Contribute to it. 🚀
STAKING vs LIQUIDITY
A lot of people in Web3 hear these two words and think they mean the same thing.
They don’t.
Here’s the simple breakdown
STAKING
You lock or delegate your crypto to help secure a Proof-of-Stake blockchain.
In return, you may earn staking rewards.
Think of it like:
“I’m helping secure the network, and I get rewarded.”
LIQUIDITY
You deposit assets into a liquidity pool so people can trade on a DeFi platform.
For example:
1 ETH + 2,000 USDC - ETH/USDC pool
When traders use the pool, liquidity providers may earn a share of trading fees.
Think of it like:
“I’m supplying the market so others can trade.”
THE KEY DIFFERENCE
Staking - helps secure the blockchain
💧 Liquidity - helps facilitate DeFi trading
But both come with risks.
Staking can involve lock-up periods, slashing and price risk.
Liquidity providing can involve impermanent loss, smart-contract risk and price risk.
Simple way to remember:
Staking = Secure the network
Liquidity = Fuel the market
Web3 Oka
Breaking down Web3 in simple terms.
Yes, if introduce too early it can confuse beginners.
To start with, they should understand derivative token and liquidity token, that both can be use interchangeably, how that derivative token is a token whose value/exposure is linked to another asset or financial position, in simple term, the token you earn from staking.
That token earned can also be use as liquidity token, that's you add the token to the liquidity pool while you increase your earning rate.
🔎 Let's follow one transaction.
Forget the complicated diagrams for a moment.
Imagine a user initiates a transaction.
👤 User
⬇️
⚡ Whitechain L2
⬇️
🛠️ Execution
⬇️
⛓️ Ethereum settlement
The important concept is that execution and settlement don't necessarily have to happen in the same place.
Whitechain handles Layer 2 execution, while Ethereum provides the underlying settlement/security relationship.
That's one of the fundamental ideas behind Ethereum Layer 2s.
And once you understand the journey of one transaction, the architecture becomes much easier to understand.
🧠 Sometimes the easiest way to understand blockchain infrastructure is to follow the data.
If digital naira can interact with blockchain infrastructure…
What would you build? 👀
A payment experience?
A commerce platform?
A financial application?
A completely new use case?
These aren't promises about what will exist.
They're questions worth exploring.
Because innovation starts when builders begin asking, “What if?”
