@Tech_snacks@maestraAI I just want to be clear because the “Formerly known as Webcaptioner, now upgraded to @maestraAI” phrase could imply that I had some involvement/endorsement of this particular solution and I did not. I have no opinions of other solutions.
Going live this evening and starting a new mini project. I will be dissecting the WebCaptioner code base to see what how I can incorporate a caption web source. Come stop by!

Please migrate to an alternative now if you are still using Web Captioner. At the end of this month, Web Captioner sunsets and the source code will be released. I have listed some alternatives at https://t.co/FR393OAU26
@isadosilencio @masander Web Captioner is sunsetting at the end of the month. Please migrate to an alternative. I have listed some at https://t.co/FR393OAU26
Just a reminder that Web Captioner is going away in about 2 months on 10/31. Begin to switch to an alternative now if you haven’t already: https://t.co/QLFVe1Z0Go
@SasiahHochle Absolutely! Thank you again. And it was actually just me doing all the development and an occasional friend helping answer some support emails.
I'm occasionally active in the open source space if anyone wants to follow me at https://t.co/nehRZU7gbM
@SordaTia Unfortunately leaving Web Captioner live in a "not updated" state is bad from a security perspective, where regular updates are needed to keep things secure. I have listed alternatives to Web Captioner at https://t.co/QLFVe1Z0Go.
@talk2MeGooseman Happy to open source it. It’s a bit of a ”product of its time” being a Nuxt 2 app mostly written 2017-2019, but there are certainly some interesting bits in it that I never really brought to their full potential. Hopefully someone will enjoy looking through it and/or using it.
@Snugibun If there are any good alternatives that I didn’t list on that page, let me know. Happy to update with the latest/best resources. Preference towards free or open source solutions.
@t_hargen Web Captioner does not require making an account in order to start captioning. Anybody is welcome to go to https://t.co/S7myiEsgJU and begin captioning without creating an account.
