Watching Liège–Bastogne–Liège from Mexico City:
08:15 La Redoute (~35 km)
→ First real attacks
08:50 Roche-aux-Faucons (~13 km)
→ Race-winning move
09:00–09:30 Finish
Rule:
Solo after Roche = likely winner
Group >4 inside 10 km = tactical finish
Not sure what @RideShimano thought: makes a film anticipating MVDP’s win but then fitting a leaked new cleat sys to the bike that could have been given to MVDP in time not to drop from the main group leading to him winning another #parisroubaix and ruining Philipsen race as well?
Mathieu van der Poel may have inadvertently revealed a key detail about Shimano’s unreleased road pedals during Paris-Roubaix 🤯
The defendging Dutchman punctured twice and was forced to change bikes on the Trouée d’Arenberg, but appeared to struggle to clip into a Jasper Philipsen's bike – which we know was fitted with Shimano’s new prototype pedals 🔥
This strongly suggests the new pedals – likely called SPD-SLR – uses a different cleat design to the current SPD-SL standard ⭐️

What a race, a big take away for me is that Pogacar was found out as unable to win on a sprint against any of the big sprinters in #parisroubaix , he’ll can’t beat MVDP, WVA, or Pedersen not even Stuyven, for next year he will need some proper focus on sprinting.
@matt_slotnick @lucasaganronald Hit it in the nail. Most probably the result of Strava elevation correction which is the closest to reality as corresponds to the actual mapped elevation of the route covered. The other figure is whatever computer sensors track which is not perfect.
@BenjiNaesen Starting with one of the least interesting parcours ever, was totally marred by the out of control protests, stages cut short, with no winner, total lack of institutional support and realization of the role as country organizers of one of top events in the sport. Scores 0.
@kwiato@therussellellis @INEOSGrenadiers Well said. Protesting should be allowed. However we saw similar protest simultaneously be orderly and civil at the Montreal race. Cycling is the easiest sport to violently disrupt putting pros at risk. 🇪🇸 seems to be the country with the most permissive gov now. ‘26 Vuelta where?
@ammattipyoraily I don’t think so, maybe the streaming file had not completely uploaded correctly when you started viewing the replay or something of that sort was going on.
@faustocoppi60 Agree, really bad solving of the TE logo graphic identity requirements for that jersey, even if they would have just put the logo on a white rectangle it would have looked better. #TDF2025
HELP NEEDED 🚨 (RT appreciated)
I am currently the national champion of Ethiopia and also a pro cyclist for Q36.5 pro team… at least until the end of the year. Unfortunately in September I was informed that my contract will be not renewed for the next year in this team. 1/5
