District crews along with fire officials were at Weber High this morning. The building was thoroughly checked and determined to be safe. School is in session.
There have been reports of an unknown odor at Weber High School. All students have been evacuated and the school has been closed for the remainder of the day. The cause of the odor is currently being investigated. No students will be allowed back inside the building today.

Construction is under way at Fremont High School as crews continue to work on a 12-classroom addition. The project is part of the 2017 bond that was approved by Weber County voters. It is scheduled to be completed in August before the start of the new school year.
The Weber School Foundation recently named Emily Oyler as their new executive director. Emily takes over for Chris Zimmerman who led the Foundation for the past 11 years. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps students & schools in Weber County.

Congratulations to Jeff Jackson, Weber School District's 2018 Teacher of the Year. Jeff teaches German and math at T.H. Bell Jr. High School, and is the leader of their Minuteman Core. He was recently honored in our May board meeting. Way to go Jeff!
Alert! Weber High. School is cancelled today, Thursday, May 17, because there is no water at the school. City officials are working to resolve the issue. This only pertains to Weber High. All other schools in session.
Congratulations to our very own Claudia Streuper on being named Utah's School Nurse Administrator of the Year! Claudia is the School Nurse Supervisor for Weber School District. She does a fantastic job and we are so proud of her on receiving this prestigious honor!

GOING ON AN EXPEDITION
Today, students at Wahlquist Jr. High got to experience an interactive learning tool called Google Expeditions. The innovative program allows teachers & students to interact with 3D models while learning about a wide range of subjects.

At 10:00 this morning, hundreds of students across the district chose to participate in a national walkout designed to honor the 17 Parkland, Florida and to bring attention to issues surrounding school safety.
