@BaltMediaBlog@eric_hontz TBF, I was *terrified* of the Mogwai-turned-Gremlins like Spike as a kid. Of course Gizmo isn’t scary…unless you spill a glass of water on him and he goes full Gremlin. 👺
@RyanLittleE@BaltimoreBanner@MsHallieMiller The #DataStorytelling is great; I actually found you because I was loving the interactive graphics and thinking "who did this??" (I particularly liked the map of vacancy rates with hover-over stats breaking down the vacancies by LLC ownership rate. 😍 )
Nice work all!
@lizbybike Part of this would be easily doable — just query all sales in a given time period where Seller = City of Baltimore and Sales Price </= $1. Then you map the results.
But the demo info will be tough. Maybe layer census data?, but that’s on such a delay…🤔
The richest man in the world has $222 billion. It’s hard to conceive how much money this is, so consider this:
If you got paid $100/hr for 40 hours a week for 50 weeks a year, it would take you 1,110,000 years to earn that much.

@DigitalHeron @restocarp@MayorBMScott@Nick_Mosby Baltimoreans look around their city at so many visibly unmet needs and it doesn’t FEEL like we’ve got all these avenues available to the ‘Everyman.’ This is not to take away from the tremendous work the existing orgs are doing; we just need more. Esp in construction trades.
@DigitalHeron @restocarp@MayorBMScott@Nick_Mosby In non-profits, there’s never enough $ to do all the work, so I can’t imagine recruiting IS ever an issue, BUT I believe constituent disconnect occurs when we look around the city + see we’re clearly not capturing nearly everyone in need of services (an admittedly utopian vision)
@CarolSOtt I missed this last year, but ran into it while studying for the RE licensing exam and was shocked to see MoCo had done it and we hadn't yet. MoCo/BaltCity typically stay in-line with one another, and this seems SUCH a basic thing towards guaranteeing *habitable* housing.
@CharmCityBuyers@FightBlightBmor If it's not blatant infringement, it *definitely* results in brand confusion for consumers, which is potentially damaging to your brand given the rep of so many of these cold-calling, WeBuyHouses, shops. Good for y'all for looking out for your IP either way!
@jaisalnoor This is part of the problem, though. The avg. parent doesn't know the ugly origins of the school choice movement, and the 'me and mine' crowd also doesn't tend to care about the history. + parents of students in failing schools make too-easy targets for school-choice activists.
